Tan head. Black color. Thick.

Fudgy and chocolate. Oak, rye, vanilla, molasses. Warming. Dry.

Full bodied. Roasty. Spiced.

Overall, a really solid rye barrel aged stout. Very enjoyable. Definitely tastes like dos.

Had this beer at a bottle share. Has a rich black color with minimal head retention. Smells of chocolate, molasses and whiskey. Taste is complex with each of those tastes coming through but finishes with a nice balanced alcohol whiskey taste. I loved this variation.

Got this one from 7clutch a while back. Cheers!

From a bomber into a snifter
Bottled 15 August 2014

APPEARNCE: Pours out dark brown, almost black, yielding a two finger, medium-thicker looking, bubbly tan head with great retention, Black body with no real carbonation evident. Head fades to a bubbly, wisp cap. A bubbly ring remains leaving some falling dots of lacing down the glass.

SMELL: Lots of oak and coconut, whisky, sweet vanilla, sweet milk chocolate and caramel on the nose, Bold stuff and enticing.

TASTE: Oak, whisky, sweet vanilla and milk chocolate up front. Some more oak at the swallow with booze and some whisky as well. Bold and lingering finish of oak, whisky, sweet vanilla, some coconut, milk chocolate and caramel notes. A trace of alcohol provides a base to the array of flavors. Nice stuff.

PALATE: Medium body and medium-lower levels of carbonation. Creamy enough, slightly sticky on the palate, goes down fine and finishes slightly sticky. Some heat lingers. Enough weight and creamy enough for the style.

OVERALL: Delicious stuff for sure. A little boozier than hoped, but it’s still really enjoyable. Not quite as decadent as Nooner 7 perhaps, but it’s still flavorful, complex, plenty interesting, and has a better look and feel, which helps the overall experience. Something worth tracking down if you have the chance. All these Nooner bottles have been great, and this is no exception. Thanks again 7clutch. Highly recommended.

Looks like a thick stout, but not like double triple thick

Smells like wood resin, rye, and underlying chocolate sweetnes. Booze.

Lots of rye on the taste, similar to the smell but more pronounced roasty chocolate, maybe a minimal coffee note

Mouthfeel is slightly thinner than I expect/like, yet still coats the mouth and rye clinging to the gums and under the tongue lingering long

Overall it's great but might be falling off based on a September '14 small pour at Zwanze day Orlando and my friend's confirming opinion. Drink your Nooners and DOS fresh, BAs. Cheers.
