Reviewed from (long-standing) notes. Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into a Cycle Brewing snifter glass.
A: Deep black and opaque. Looks very thick, with barely any visible carbonation in there. Forms a thin tan head that stays around for a bit, but settles out fairly quickly.
S: You can smell the chocolate while pouring. Up close, there's chocolate, cacao, and bourbon. Deep roasted malts and oaken barrel lending vanilla and tannins. Really, really good aroma.
T: Chocolate – dark chocolate, cacao, and Dark Hershey's syrup. Bourbon and associated sweetness. Dark roasted malts and vanilla, oak tannins and thick malt sweetness. Hints of leather and mild dark fruits. But the chocolate and bourbon shine here. The finish is restrained bourbon, barrel, and residual chocolate sweetness.
M: A thick, sticky, viscous mouthfeel. The alcohol presence is restrained for style. Very low carbonation sensation adds to the thick body.
O: This was really, really tasty. For my tastes, it hits the perfect balance of barrel prominence without overwhelming all other flavors. A truly excellent big, thick, sticky barrel-aged imperial stout.

650ml bottle. served in a snifter glass.
Pours a dark black body, opaque in clarity as expected, one finger dark mocha head, a bit of retention, no lacing. Smells of a hefty chocolate milkshake aroma, bourbon heat, oak, mild roast, a bit of coffee. Very nice. Flavour is similarly chocolate-forward; I've never had Pritchard's Double Chocolate Bourbon but I'm getting a pretty good sense of what that is from this beer. A very nice base beer for the barrel-aging treatment. Chocolate brownies, bourbon, more chocolate, a bit of char and roast, espresso. Primarily a chocolate-based flavour, I don't know how to get more specific with this. Mouthfeel is thin bodied, appropriate carbonation, plenty of depth and flavour but just thin and feels a little bit lighter than it should. A very nice imperial stout with a particularly good barrel-aged treatment.

The highlight of this beer is the thick, full, rich mouthfeel. Exactly what a barrel aged stout should be. The palate is chocolate stout with a strong molasses finish. Overall, a very nice BA offering from Cycle.

Poured from a 22oz bomber into a cycle snifter - black as night with a thin brown head that stuck around for a bit. Smelled of bourbon and rich chocolate. Taste followed suit with a heavy fudge bourbon taste. Feel was thick and rich with the usual silky mouthfeel that cycle always delivers on. One of my favorites from their 2014 releases.

Got this one from 7clutch in a recent box. Cheers man!
From a bomber into a snifter
Imperial stout aged in Prichard's double chocolate bourbon barrels
APPEARANCE: Pitch black opaque pour yields a 2+ finger, medium looking, fizzy, mocha colored head with decent retention. Head makes more than enough fizzy noise. Pitch black body with no carbonation evident. Head fades to a full cap and clings to the sides of the glass. A bit flat by they end, unfortunately. A slight ring remains leaving a few falling dots of lacing. Great color but too fizzy a head.
SMELL: Big nose of bourbon, oak, sweet cream and vanilla, coconut with some wonderful milk and pure chocolate aromas. Smells great. Bold and complex, with notes of toffee and roasted malt under the bourbon and chocolate heavy aromas. Great.
TASTE: Lots of bourbon, oak and chocolate flavors up front. Bold beginning, with coconut and toffee sweetness as well. Big, bold and flavorful finish of bourbon, coconut, sweet vanilla and milk chocolate, oak, toffee, some pure bitter baker's chocolate and some burnt and roasted malts. Decadent. Absolutely lovely.
PALATE: Medium body and medium levels of carbonation. A little prickly on the palate, unfortunately, only semi-creamy, goes down fine with a bit of a scratch and finishes sticky. Some heat lingers.
OVERALL: Awesome. Decadent and excellent. Could use a slightly creamier palate, which would pull the flavors together to perfection, but otherwise, this is a superb creation that brought a huge smile to my face. Lots of wonderful barrel character with chocolate and roasted components that work so well. Would love to drink this again. Thanks again 7clutch. This was spectacular.
