DRAFT:

Pretty good, my least favorite of the days and the least produced. It tasted like Rare DOS to me, lots of bourbon, vanilla and oak character from the barrel, no specialty adjuncts, no big pops of flavor but very fluffy and smooth mouth feel. Lacing was the same, lots of caramel stickiness and an all black body.

Great nose. beautiful pour. sweet thick and roasty base beer offended by a barrel that doesn't match. The barrel adds and unpleasant addition to the beer of a salty dark fruit and woodiness that just upsets the balance of the beer.

Had two pours on draft at the brewery on the day of the release. Let's start with the amazing barrel character - oak, char and smoke are very strong, but the sweet, rich, dark chocolate base stout is big enough to balance it. Rye comes through in the nose and on the finish adding to the experience. Caramel comes through as it warms. The flavors are huge. Super rich dark chocolate brownie dipped in caramel balanced by char and oak from the barrel. What an amazing combination, but there's more. Its super complex with raisins, figs, vanilla, pipe tobacco, cinnamon, and black strap molasses working their way into the picture. Each sip brings something unique. This is one to be savored, a memorable beer. Edit: Opened my bottle two months after the release and there was no head at all. Carbonation was low and the mouth feel feel thinned out on the finish. Much better on draft and I'm adjusting my review. Still an excellent beer and I would love to try it again.

On tap at Peg's. Served in a snifter.

Appearance - Black body with a little mocha head. Viscous looking.

Smell - Strong rye. Black roasted malts. A little vanilla, even though this isn't the vanilla version.

Taste - Sweet caramel. Bitter chocolate. Whiskey. Quite a bit of oak in the finish.

Mouthfeel - Bitter. Heavy. Boozy.

Overall - Almost exactly like Vanilla Wednesday, just less vanilla. I guess that's to be expected.
