Nooner 9 is Vanilla with bourbon rye barrels

BOTTLE:

L: Like all cycle stouts, black, with a deep, lingering tanned head.
S: Suprisingly more vanilla, sweet
T: Nice vanilla notes in between the DOS stout. I ddnt get much Rye but it was still delicious!
M: Smooth, fluffy, creamy
O: WAY better in the bottle than on draft. I was so surprised. This was a dream come true for me. I re-evaluated my original score.

DRAFT:

L: Black, thin tan head, very appealing
S: Sugary
T: Like Rare DOS, sweet, bourbon with spicy rye aftertaste
M: Oily
O: No Vanilla, nothing like VR, do not expect that, only bourbon and spice. No marshmellow, just sugary-sweet.

Vanilla, oak, marshmallow, leather, humidor, rye spice, soft caramels, fudge, cola, bourbon soaked raisins and graham crackers.

Black with tan head. Rich and velvety like the other dos beers. A bit roasted. The vanilla shows but not as much as nilla rye. Still, very nice beer.

Thanks to goveia75 for this 22 oz. bottle - with a beer name on it! Good job, Cycle! Split with my wife, & expectations are high after the Hazelnut bliss a few nights ago. Bottled 6/15 & received a couple weeks ago in a fantastic trade.

Black. Smells a lot like my fond, faded memories of Vanilla Rye - plenty of spiciness from the rye barrel, lots of vanilla, malt sweetness & roast. Lovely.

Nooner Batch 9: my wife & I should have split this about 12:30 PM on Wednesday. As advertised, vanilla still prominent, with a much bigger barrel presence than I’m used to from Cycle beers, with a good rye whiskey kick. Marshmallows, bittersweet chocolate, lactose, maple char round out the experience. Standard Cycle mouthfeel, but with this vanilla, I could drink it until the Twins lose. Which, right now, is looking like never. Woohoo!

After a limp handshake of an introduction, this latest batch of Cycle beers seems to have firmed up their grasp. No rug-cutting here, just an excellent beer.

Looks like a stout should. Pretty fine carb. Maybe one finger head that didn't last long.
Smell is big on the vanilla, as is the flavor (with the barrel notes lurking pleasantly In the background. Vanilla get even more prominent in the finish and hits kind of a sasparilla kind of note. Reminds me of vanilla coke at moments too.
Medium bodied. Think kbs viscosity.
Enjoyable but not as good as I was hoping. My only other cycle Ba stout experience was pallet 3, which I though was thicker and certainly more barrel-forward.

650 mL bottle poured into a snifter. Black body. Khaki head. Thick collar. Smells like a rye barrel. Some dark fruits. Big vanilla aroma. Roasted malts. Strong whiskey flavor. Equally strong molasses and roasted malt. Vanilla and tingly booze. Heavy body. Medium carbonation. Tasty as always.

Thanks to Rado for sharing this one at Wowcoolman's tasting.

Bottled 6/2015.

Pours an opaque black with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, rye, cocoa powder, vanilla, marshmallow, bourbon, and wood aromas. Taste is much the same with rye, cocoa powder, vanilla, marshmallow, bourbon, and wood flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast and wood bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and sticky mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good beer with awesome barrel aged characteristics that work super well with the base beer.

Since Rare DOS is such a solid beer, it's hard to go wrong adding adjuncts and nooner 9 is no exception. The vanilla adds to the aroma and flavor as expected, thought I thought not enough to the taste, left me wanting more. Still outstanding.
