22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled in 2/2016. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1 finger dense and rocky tan head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, molasses, vanilla, cream, fudge, brownie batter, marshmallow, spicy rye, whiskey, toasted oak, nuttiness, and dark/brown bread; with light notes of licorice, raisin, fig, prune, date, smoke, char, leather, tobacco, herbal, pepper, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Touch of booze in the aromas as it warmed, but not overwhelming. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/rye/bready malts and whiskey barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, molasses, vanilla, cream, fudge, brownie batter, marshmallow, spicy rye, whiskey, toasted oak, nuttiness, and dark/brown bread; with light notes of licorice, raisin, fig, prune, date, smoke, char, leather, tobacco, herbal, pepper, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Mild herbal/roast/char bitterness and rye/whiskey/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, molasses, vanilla, cream, fudge, brownie batter, marshmallow, spicy rye, whiskey, toasted oak, nuttiness, dark/brown bread, light dark fruit/smoke/char, leather, tobacco, herbal, pepper, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness on the finish for a while. Amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/rye/bready malts and whiskey barrel flavors; with an awesome roasted bitter/sweet and rye/whiskey oak spiciness balance; with no acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness and rye/whiskey/oak spiciness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/velvety, and slightly slick/sticky/chalky/tannic mouthfeel that is amazing. Mildly increasing warmth of 10-11%, with minimal barrel booziness lingering after the finish. Overall this is an amazing barrel aged imperial stout! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/rye/bready malts and whiskey barrel flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the big ABV, with the mildly bitter/tannic/drying finish. Insanely rich and complex multigrain stout, with perfect barrel integration. Not overly bitter/charred/tannic on malts/barrels. A highly enjoyable offering, and stellar style example. Glad I was able to finally try one of their imperial stouts, and it completely lived up to the hype expectations. No flavorings needed.

Got this one from desp59 a while back. Cheers!
From a bomber into a snifter
2016 Edition
Garbage Stout
APPEARANCE: Pours out clear black and yields a 2+ finger, medium looking, creamy dark tan head with good retention. Jet black body with no carbonation evident. Head slowly fades to a full cap. A ring remains until the end but leaves no real lacing down the glass. Same body as the others but the lacing is missing on this one.
SMELL: Bourbon, oak, alcohol, sweet vanilla, dark chocolate and molasses notes as well. Bold and plenty of wood on this one.
TASTE: Alcohol, bourbon, oak with caramel and milk chocolate notes up front. Boozy swallow with a bold finish of bourbon, oak, sweet vanilla, dark chocolate and toffee lingering on the palate, Boozy but flavorful. Lots of wood and alcohol on this one.
PALATE: Medium body and medium levels of carbonation. Creamy on the palate, goes down fine with a burn at the swallow and finishes a bit mouth-coating. Lots of heat lingers.
OVERALL: Really good stuff. A little too boozy perhaps, but there’s lots of character and much of it is right up my alley. Lovely chocolate, vanilla and wood flavors here, and the feel measures up. I’m pretty confident there was a lot of spirit left in these barrels, both literally and figuratively speaking. Another quality Cycle stout that’s well worth checking out if you get the chance. Really enjoy these guys. Thanks again desp59!

L: pours thick and black with a half finger of dark brown head that fades fast
S: big fudge, good barrel. Not sure what barrel, but there is a nice barrel sweetness
T: hum...smoky soy, molasses, very little chocolate, big booze. Not a good combo
F: whisky burn, tingly carbonation.
O: very disappointed here, can't finish it
