Have had this one several times and I am glad to see it getting the respect it deserves.
A: It pours a nice deep dark black hue with a tall mocha head. Wonderful retention and tons of lace.
S: Aromas are rich and roasty. Tons of chocolate, vanilla, and coconut. The wood from the barrel is there with a touch of booze.
T: The flavor is where this one really shines. You could put an average beer in a Palm Ridge barrel and get a great result. Make no mistake about it though the base beer in this one is more than just good. Loads of Roasted Chocolate, and bold bold coconut, like a Mounds bar. Hints of vanilla and oak. Subtle coffee notes to round things out. Really is a great great beer.
M: Full in body, bold, rich, smooth.
D: Could drink it until I pass out.
Doug I have a Fresh Palm Ridge barrel could I twist your arm into making me a keg? :)

Huge thanks to tpd975 for the 22 bottom-filled "growler." Shared with my bro-in-law last night.
Dark black pour that has plenty of carbonation and a moderate head upon initial viewing. I should say this has held up like a champion for 9 months out of the keg.
Fudgy brownie and bourbon in the nose. Such a decadent whiff that only gets more intoxicating as it warms. Plenty of vanilla tossed in as well. Just superlative!
This tastes even better than it smells. The bourbon is prominent in the way that it's so smoothing. I've never had Palm Ridge before but I'm signing up for their newsletter going forward! While there is plenty of whiskey in the upfront, it seems more subtle than previous reviews. For whatever the reason, this is exactly what I was hoping for. Coconut, brown sugar, chocolate syrup, a slight roastiness and hints of maple creme all reveal themselves at different times. This seems like it could be a hybrid between Berserker and Kate.
I really can't add much more than that. It's a crime that this isn't available to the masses. Barrel-aging at it's best to a base beer that is simply remarkable.

Thanks to Wowcoolman for sharing this one at his tasting.
Pours an almost opaque super dark crimson-brown with a foamy khaki head that settles fades to nothing. Small dots of lace slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, char, and bourbon aromas. Taste is much the same with sour cocoa and bourbon flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roasty bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer that is obviously infected but still is fairly drinkable in this state.

Had as a pre-game to the 2nd Annual Redneck Racin’ & Tastin’! Big thanks goes out to BRoss242 for this one! HOLY CRAP! I can’t believe I’m finally getting to tick this one! Served from growler into an Ommegang Three Philosophers chalice. Poured pitch black with a minimal light brown head. Maintained decent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, dark chocolate, wood, and milk chocolate. The flavor was of sweet malt, dark chocolate, wood, dark fruit, milk chocolate, and subtle sweet alcohol. It had a heavy feel on the palate with mild carbonation. Overall this was a fairly great brew. I still can’t believe I got to tick this one after such a long time! This was a really well balanced and enjoyable brew. The chocolate note I got on this one was really the star of it for me while adding a nice vanilla note. The same could be said for the aroma as well to help out. Definitely one of the better brews I’ve had this year. A MUST try!

Glad I locked this one down when it was in the 90's before its meteoric rise into the top 30. Crazy stuff. Growler (that's what everyone else is calling these counterpressured 22's) shared with my father-in-law who is a big whiskey guy.
The beer pours black with a dark head that leaves a collar on the outside. It smells absolutely fantastic with a mixture of chocolate and bourbon whiksey as well as some good barrel flavors. My father-in-law says Palm Ridge whiskey is not all that good and thinks this "doesn't taste like beer" but what does he know. I'm thankful, leaves more of the beer for me. It's creamy with some moderate carbonation. I don't get much alcohol in this. This is an awesome beer, worth acquiring repeatedly.

16oz growler, July '13 release
Riedel tulip
A: Pours pitch black. Motor oil for sure. Thin wisps of deep tan that fades into just tiny bubbles around the edges. Leaves some lacing bits.
S: Diacytl on the nose. Think this got the infection issues sadly. Really over powers all the imperial stout notes I would be picking up. Get some dark cocoa puff hints.
T: Tart cherry flavor up front, from the infection. Really overpowers everything stout-like. You get traces of what would have been underneath. Slight vanilla, but its more on that butterscotch infected note. Booze heat on the finish. Dry red wine is actually a good description.
M: Full bodied but thinner than it appears.
*reviewing how I had it. I hope to try a non-infected batch ASAP.*
