definitely rum barrel aged
look was nice and dark classic cycle look
smell is sweet rum on the nose
taste is sweet rum with barrel notes
feel is very nice and thick rum throughout the taste.

Had the 2014 version as part of an 18 bottle cycle tasting. This was one of the better bottles in the tasting...barrel nice and smooth by now...really enjoy rum BA beers!

2016 vintage drank on 1/12/2016 at the Assassin hotel bottle share.
I was pretty excited to get to try this one, however, it turned out to be very similar to other rum barrel aged beers. It had that silky creamy feel of the DOS series, but the rum barrel imparts too much sweetness for my liking. The other chocolate and oak notes were nice, but i have not gotten going on the rum barrel aged style yet.

Poured from a 22oz bomber into a oversize snifter.
Pours a thick viscous black body with a one finger head that reduces to leave a ring of lacing.
Aromas are inviting and open up as this beer warms up. Lots of vanilla and spiced rum, boozy rum, toffee and tobacco.
On the tongue is lots of rum, vanilla, milk chocolate, finishing roasty with coffee and charred malt. Mouthfeel is thick, rich, velvety and low carbonation. Really easy to drink.
You have to let this one warm up before really enjoying it. The flavors and aromas as well as mouthfeel all open up when it's close to room temperature. Really a world class beer.

Super rich deep rum flavors - Cycle really knows how to pull a lot out of their BA beers. And it pours beautifully dark, just like all of their stouts.
