500 ml growler served in a Kuhnhenn snifter. Thanks to captiveodyssey for the beer.

A: Pours a heavy, opaque black color with a dark brown head forming on the pour. It recedes to a thin ring and film. Some splotches of lace are left down the glass.

S: Dark chocolate bitterness, some sharp oak, sweet booze and burnt sugar. Charred oak and roasted malts with a back end barrel sweetness. A little milk chocolate as well.

T: Heavier on the barrel presence here with some char, a faint peat note and some whiskey. Dark chocolate with a finish of caramel and vanilla with some more whiskey. Some light dark fruits as well.

M: Medium to heavy bodied. Medium low carbonation with an oily and slick coating mouthfeel.

O: Pretty enjoyable overall. The barrel is slightly smokey which is enjoyable and the base beer has enough chocolate and roast to hold up to the barrel aging.

Thanks, HeyOhhh!

An exceptional whiskey barrel-aged stout in nearly every way. Thick, black, heavy, and coating in appearance with a dominating chocolate and whiskey combination in the aroma. A little bit of wood and peat as well. The flavors translate nicely as well along with a rich, coating, luxurious mouthfeel experience. Decadent and delicious.

500 mL growler poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Inky black. Decent mocha head. Medium collar.

Smell - Rich chocolate. Whiskey. A little peaty. Boozy. Whiskey dominates the nose.

Taste - Whiskey is less dominant. Rich dark chocolate. Scotch-like whiskey. Oaky. Slightly sharp finish from the whiskey.

Mouthfeel - Thick. Medium low carbonation. Boozy.

Overall - Pretty good, though I prefer the bourbon barrel to this. Not infected though!
