Looks fine and smells OK, and maybe if this wasn't my first pour of the night I would've been more open to it, but this was terrible. No interesting flavor complexity to speak of. The best single-word tasting note I'd have would be Overcooked... Our group drained it :/

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with nice brown foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of roasted malt with molasses is enjoyable. Taste is a mix between light roasted malt with some black chocolate notes with quite a lot of residual sugar notes and some molasses. Body is full with good carbonation and no real apparent alcohol notes. Sweeter then I usually like my imperial stout but enjoyable nonetheless.

This is a well made beer, but the addition of the grape juice just doesn't do it for me. It adds a fruit syrup flavor that I didn't like. I actually didn't finish my pour.

somewhere halfway between like and love on this one, a real unique brew form these two, courtesy of the evil twin tap takeover at world of beer this weekend, lucky me! interesting idea to add grape juice to this, i think a lot of it has been fermented out, as the beer is remarkably dry. hazy and chalky looking, not shiny like many big stouts, but a great head on it. smells a little tangy, short of acidic, but thats the greatest contribution of the fruit for me, not its flavor, which is quite mild really, just adding a little richness to the deep dark grain base. its amazing how many of these evil twin beers are dark ones, and how different they are all from each other. hard to place what the various malts are in this, the grape sort of confuses it for me, but it comes together really well. how dry this is, and how much of the yeast flavor comes through is what i like the most about it. i had this side by side with the even more jesus, and liked them about the same. this was much more dry though, which seems odd with an extra fermentable. cool to have it on tap too. weird name, cool beer.

OK beer. The mouth feel of this beer is what makes it better than it is. I was expecting something a little more interesting from these two breweries.

A: Pours nearly black and even with a rigorous pour yields no head.

S: Aroma is all wine grapey-ness. Some sweetness to it but dominated by the wine.

T: Started off along the aroma, then mid palate hits some dark chocolate sweet notes and finishes with bitter roast. As the brew warms the wine character dies down and hits after the chocolate.

M: Fairly slick, nearly zero carbonation but it works well for the style.

O: Some nice complexity to this one. Not an everyday beer but pretty nice to sip on and ponder...

Surprised me (in a good way) given the reviews I thought this was going to be another one of those sour-ish stouts that taste like wine that's been open for a week. Not so. Mildly sour with good balance.

This beer missed the mark, considering its price point.
