Decanted from a 12 oz (355 ml) can into a Weissbier glass; no readable production info but Batch SWMT2–AG.
A: Pours a bright, hazy, lemon yellow color with exuberant head formation leaving a two inch, chiffon white head with excellent retention but limited long term lacing.
S: Aromas of grapefruit, lime zest, and sea salt predominate with resin and maybe a funky note over time.
T: Dry and tart. Flavors definitely mirror the nose with grapefruit, lime juice, and pith predominating, but sea salt and resin very much in evidence. Light bitterness present and can be teased from mix. Refreshingly tart citrusy aftertaste.
M: Medium bodied with strong, persistent and at first exuberant carbonation.
O: A nice example of a citrusy Gose. Wish I had more.

Whotta CANQuest (tm) these past few days have turned into! I am unearthing (semi-)forgotten gems & mining them for all that they are wort(h). I really had no idea that I had so many Stillwater beers in abeyance until I really got rolling & now they seem to be coming outta the woodwork. Another Gose! Wow.
From the CAN: "Gose Style Session IPA". Ha! Even I am NOT advocating for that burgeoning style's inclusion anywhere!
I have to admit to being baffled by its CANtents - "Water, Malted Barley, Hops, Yeast". Huh?!? No wheat malt? No salt? Hmm. Well, they brought this hammer upon themselves by even intimating that ii was a Gose! Here Gose. I could not decide how to proceed, so I opted for my usual devil-may-care, caution-to-the-wind style & unleashed a heavy-handed Glug following the Crack! Initially, I was worried that I had overamped as the head came foaming up to form two-plus fingers of foamy, fizzy, rocky, bone-white head with modest retention in the face of today's heat & humidity. Color was a deeply-hazy/lightly-cloudy Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 -5). Nose smelled tart & salty, so I wondered where the IPA part was due to come in. Well, once I got my lips unpuckered, I CAN only take a guess and say that the use of grapefruit hops was the CANtributing factor. If so, then it was a case of gilding the lily as it was plenty tart and salty on its own. The hops only added to the intensity, which was not really necessary. Phew! I like Goses & I love AIPAs, but this was not the best of both worlds. This was grapefruit & salt in one big, tart mélange & I am not sure how to feel about it. It was plenty salty, which is the hallmark of a Gose, but all of the grapefruit tartness was lighting a small fire in my tummy's furnace. Finish was dry, very tart, very salty, but it just seemed overdone. Now, to rate to style & NOT to taste …

This beer pours a hazy golden color with a 3 finger, dense, fizzy white head. Retention is above average and there are some soapy chunks of lacing left on the glass.
Smell is straight up lime. Juice, zest and pith. There is some acidic tartness too.
Taste is more diversified. Lime, lemon, orange, and quite a nice punch of tart with the slightest bit of funk.
Feel is light and smooth. Very easy drinking. Carbonation is moderate, but I wish there was a touch more.
Overall this is a very good beer. I'm not sure why it took me so long to try this, but it will definitely be added to my warm weather roatation.

A: The beer is hazy light yellow in color with some hints of green hues. It poured with a half finger high bright white head that died down, leaving a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface, a narrow collar, and lacy rings of bubbles around the edges of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of lime zest and sourness are present in the nose.
T: The taste is quite tart and has sour flavors of lemon and lime with some hints of saltiness towards the finish.
M: It feels light-bodied and a bit crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: While this beer is light in body, it's very aromatic and flavorful. It's like a hybrid between a gose and a session IPA. This would make for a good beer on a hot summer day.
