This was originally an exclusive beer for Japan’s largest department store Isetan. Despite the tropical aromas, this beer possesses no fruit - only hops!

A thanks to the amazing woodychandler for this beer. Poured from a 16 oz. can. Despite zero agitation, this beer came bursting out, resulting in a golden/orange color with 2 inches of leg and a wet lower leg and foot. Smell is of tropical fruits. Taste is of mild tropical fruits, kind of minty, light to moderate bitterness. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer.

From the can, it pours a hazy amber with a lusty white head that eventually diminishes to a nice layer and leaves lacing. In the nose, it has a bit of citrus, in the mouth, it is the same, but not as much as I would have expected.

This contains no fruit, yet it tastes very fruity, a bit like honey and a bit like pineapple.

The CANQuest (tm) rambles & rumbles on with some selections from Stillwater Artisanal Ales today. It will be a strange admixture of styles, types & flavors, but variety is the spice of life. It should be interesting.
From the CAN: "Neo-Tropic India Pale Ale".
I was kinda mesmerized by the pattern on the CAN, but I managed to snap out of it & Crack! open the vent. It was a 16-fl. oz. Pint CAN so I employed a slow, gentle Glug so as not to create a mess. Once sufficiently deCANted, an in-glass swirl raised just undr two fingers of fluffy, foamy, bone-white head that slowly fizzled its way into wisps, but left nice lacing behind as a reminder. Color was an oh-so-slightly-hazy Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5). Nose smelled like tropical fruit salad, very sweet, but not very bitter. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was intersting in that while it was still very tropical fruity, it was not as intense as it had been on the nose. Instead, it also had a cool mintiness, almost like spearmint, making it cool and dry as well as fruity. Finish remained fruity, cool & dry. It was the cool mintiness that saved the day, IMHO. There really was not much bitterness, which is a hallmark of the style, so the mintiness at least partially offset the fruitiness.

Reviewed from notes. Poured from a 16 oz. can into a Cycle Brewing goblet.
A: Hazy gold, with a half-finger of white head that dissipates quickly. A good amount of visible carbonation.
S: Tropical fruit, melon, and dank. Some stone fruits and a bit grassy. A light amount of biscuity malts in the background, and lesser notes of citrus and pith. Overall fruit-forward for sure.
T: Melons, tropical fruits, and dank. Kumquat, pineapple, and peach. Mild biscuit malts. Clementine citrus fruitiness and some pith bitterness at the swallow accompanies some more dank hops.
M: Average body, carbonation sensation towards the low side. Alcohol presence is low.
O: A pretty tasty beer, and a nice balance of fruity and dank. A solid hoppy canned offering for sure.

For a beer called Super Hop, I was really expecting a lot more hops. We get some hops in giving this beer a light citrusy backbone, but there just aren't enough hops here. I don't know what Neo-Tropic IPA is supposed to mean, but whatever this beer is supposed to convey - it needs more of it.
