Pours an opaque orange with two fingers of off-white foam. Good head retention. Aroma is tangerine, papaya, and citrus with hearty biscuity, bready malts behind. Shows off malts readily for the style labeled on the can (NE IPA). Flavor profile is orange, tangerine, papaya, and a dash of melondew create a citrusy, tropical fruit display with biscuity, bready, nutty malts behind. Good round, completeness between the hops and malts, yin and yang. Mouth feel is lightly fuzzy, but turns still after a short moment. It has a medium-thick consistency. Overall, a splendid NE IPA/ DIPA. Malt notes are high per the NE IPA style, but it creates a more balanced beer with dripping, juicy hop notes. As per the Beer Advocate labeled style of DIPA, it is much more citrus and tropical fruit forward than other offerings.

Served in a 12oz snifter from a 16oz can.

16 ounce can into tulip glass; no can dating, but was just released. Pours very hazy/cloudy deep golden amber/light orange color with a 1 finger dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big mandarin orange juice, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, wheat, biscuit dough, light honey, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big mandarin orange juice, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, wheat, biscuit dough, light honey, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Mild pine, zesty, herbal, floral, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of mandarin orange juice, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, wheat, biscuit dough, light honey, and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and bready malt flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance, and no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is great. Slight lingering resins near the end of the glass. Minimal warming alcohol for 8%. Overall this is a fantastic NEDIPA! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV, with the mildly bitter/drying finish. Great soft feel, and not aggressive. Feels like Amarillo, Citra, Mosaic; pretty much identical to Mainstream Pop Song. Mouthfeel was a little softer. Extremely juicy and fairly dank/earthy hop complexity; great wheat/oat/malt backbone, with minimal residual sweetness from lingering dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on style example as expected.
