Appearance:
Murky, dirty yellow body hosts plenty of carbonation and a thin, white head that has mediocre retention and leaves no lacing. The rush of bubbles is actually audible.

Aroma:
Nice and spiced. It's nothing out of character for the style, but it is pleasant and your nose will thank you for this one. Fresh ground pepper and coriander, lemon zest, pungent Belgian yeast, and a hint of leather. Overall it's very sweet and earthy.

Taste:
Quite sweet and pleasantly funky. All attributes noted in the aroma are present in taste. Only the slightest tinge of bitterness immediately upon sipping.

Mouthfeel:
Smooth and sweet medium(ish) bodied brew. Gobs of carbonation. Clean and dry finish.

Overall:
Fantastic example of one of my personal favorite styles. This will make a great grillin' companion. Easy to drink and refreshing, you definitely want to add this to your shopping list.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 9/4/2013. Pours fairly hazy/cloudy bright gold color with a 3 finger dense and fluffy white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a large amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of lemon zest, tangerine, orange peel, pear, apple, black pepper, clove, straw, grass, herbal, floral, light bread, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast ester, hops, and light-moderate malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big lemon zest, tangerine, orange peel, pear, apple, black pepper, clove, straw, grass, herbal, floral, bread, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Good amount of yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon zest, tangerine, orange peel, pear, apple, black pepper, clove, straw, grass, floral, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity of fruity/spicy yeast ester, hops, and moderate malt flavors; with a great yeast/hop flavor balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly prickly mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent saison! All around great complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, hops, and moderate malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

This is a really nice example of a "new" saison...imtrroducing some New World (US and NZ) hops and IBU level cranked up a bit over most traditional beers of the style. Nonetheless, this is a real saison, with the soft, full mouthfeel, richly complex aroma and flavor profile, the mouthfilling efforvesence, sweet-dry finish, and fat dash of spicey-fruity fermentation products in every sip. There may also be some actual spices and fruits contributing, but in an even-handed, understated way. I love that pilsener malt aroma is very much upfront.

I recognize that saisons, in general, have become "big beers," even though I Doubt that the average Belgian farmer tried to "refresh" his seasonal farm workers with 6.5 abv or greater, which has become the trend for this style. Just the same, I do like the alcohol warmth that accompanies the otherwise mouthfilling rich complexity of this rationally-priced premium ale from Maryland.

Good job!!!!

Hazy peach color, aroma of sweet orange. Taste is light and refreshing, highlighted by orange peel and a floral and herbal presence. A hint of tartness and a very mild spiciness. Active creamy carbonation. Very easy drinking and enjoyable. I could see this being a crowd pleaser and I nice warm weather beer.

A few chunks of sediment. Golden beer with deep haze. Head is a little disappointing.

Spicy and briny citrus. Sage, white pepper, apricot, lemon peel, and a hint of cantaloupe. Smells bright.

Big leafy herbal notes, peppery notes, a little mushroom, hints of lemony brightness, and a bite of earthy hops. Wheaty malts and a little salinity. Dry finish with moderate bitterness from the hops and herbaceousness. Saison on overdrive.

Very drinkable, minus the chalky feel. Light-medium body. Bouts of carbonation.

An excellent saison. Kickass tasty and true to all of it.
