Notes / Commercial Description:
Existent represents the philosophy behind Stillwater Artisanal. We strive to define ourselves through our passion and sincerity while accepting that not all aspects of life are readily explainable. To manifest this ideology we present an ale of intrigue. Deep & dark though deceptively dry, braced by a firm yet smooth bitterness and accented with an earthy hop and mild roast aroma. This is an ale for you to define...

Poured a brown body with one finger khaki head that died slow and left lace patches. Aroma has hints of tartness/funk but is mostly a mish-mash of roasted malts and yeast. Medium bodied beer that flows easy thanks to yeast and balances a yeast (not so much bubblegum) and chocolate sweetness as well as roasted malt presence that gives dry finish. Intermingling with these flavors are minor tastes of funk but not enough to make this a typical funky saison. Not a bad beer but not much shines through other than the chocolate and roasted malts.

Interesting beer.

Poured a very dark red, almost cognac color. A sour, acidic scent with a tone of earthiness. Great flavor with a moderate bite of bitterness, a surprisingly dry finish, a mild sweetness, and a unique malty base. Excellent mouthfeel from the high level of carbonation.

Overall: A pleasant surprise from a beer which was difficult to anticipate its character before trying. This beer has a hearty foundation flavor paired well with a round frothy mouthfeel and a mild but nice aroma. I found this beer to resemble a Belgian Dubbel almost more than a saison, but solid none the less.

from a single into a GI tulip. looks great though unlike any saison I've ever seen... light black with a little red tinge and a khaki head. Nose is interesting/odd for the style. Some raisins, prunes, plums, as well as some roasted malt....a tinge of citrus, clove and hay, but these are lesser notes and take some time to get. Taste and mouthful make this really delicious: a little bittersweet chocolate that I missed in the nose, some great layers of flavor that unfold slowly, a little twang at the end that surprises, and fairly dry. Unlike any saison I've had but very enjoyable.
