Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.40%

Notes / Commercial Description:
Human history is filled with myths and legends that shape and define our culture. Rituals, celebrations, gatherings.. whatever. One thing that’s for sure, is we enjoy a proper shindig. So let’s get the stories flowing and share a little ’Folklore’. A bracingly deep ale, built dark and rich with an elegantly lean body, accompanied by heady aromas of Belgian yeast, earthy hops and gently kissed by a wisp of smoke.

This beer was formerly known as 25 to One.

Poured a very dark black, little head and no lacing. The smell was dark roast malt, chocolate and belgian spicy yeast. The flavor was dark roast malt and dark fruit. Mouthfeel was medium bodied. Nice beer, all the attributes point towards a stout, but it had that nice belgian flavor.

Earthy, nutty, grainy, dark Belgian ale. Mellow and not overly assertive and aggresive. Little bit of leather and vanilla.

Poured into a tulip.

This beer is an “untraditional stout” as the brewer proclaims. Many of its characteristics will make you want to classify it as something other than a stout. The smokiness and the aroma do set it apart from most. A balanced beer with an ABV undetectable to the palate. The brewer has done well but I am conflicted between what I taste and the style it supposed to represent. Is it a Stout or a Belgian Strong Dark Ale? You decide. A beer that I will drink again. 4.25

A – Pours black, but clear with a small light brown head. Minimal lacing. 3.75

S – The aroma reminds me of a Russian Imperial Stout, dark fruit (raisin), tinch of sweetness, some alcohol that is not reflected in the taste. 4.25

T – Smoke but not overwhelming, roasted malts, faint licorice, not excessively bitter, no coffee or chocolate. 4

MF – Medium bodied with a dry finish. The mouth feel of a regular stout. 4
