Tasted of hominy, with hints of SPI Code 5 plastic and woodsiness.
Smells of grass, the plastic of baby diapers, air of the Coastal California Redwoods, and hominy.
Light, acidic mouthfeel; bubbles are agressive and a burn to the tongue.
A light, staw color with low foam.
Overall this beer argued too much with my sensibilities. The result? I could not appreciate it.

Picked this up recently at the Total Wine up in River Edge, having never had this before. I've enjoyed the other offerings that I've had from Stillwater, as this turned out to also not be typical for it's style as it felt as much as Saison as an American Blonde Ale.
No surprise that this was blonde when I poured it out as it had a subtle radiance to it and some extremely fine sediment and haze suspended in it. More than enough head topped this off although the lacing was only extensive near the top of the liquid once I took a few sips. Lots of yeast, lemon pepper, and farmhouse funk in the nose as apple, cracker, grain, Brett, Saaz Hops, and a bit of filler came into play. Quite complex for something of this sort, this was atypical and enjoyable because of the low amount of alcohol and softly enduring presence of bubbles.
Lots to enjoy here once this warmed up, as I wish that this had come in a bigger can! No doubt that this was indeed a postmodern beer, as per the label, since this was nothing like anything else in it's category that I've ever had. Short of yeast floating in the liquid, this was something more akin to an import or an Ommegang offering as this was effervescent, nuanced, and balanced all at the same time. Glad to give this one a go!

This is the worst beer I have ever had. I don't know if it was a bad bottle or what, but after 3 sips had to pour it out!!

Very hazy, light straw colored body; thick, fluffy, white head. Spicy, peppery aroma; cut wet grass; lemons. Taste mimics the aroma; tart and acidic; powdery yeast notes. Soft, medium bodied; dry finish.
There was non-stop oozing foam upon opening the bottle, yet once the contents settled down, the beer proved decent and enjoyable. The looks, flavor, and aroma are more inline with a farmhouse/saison styling than an all-malt grain ale. Regardless of its classification, this brew is worth a try.

Considering this a brett-ed saison brewed with corn and rice. Pours a cloudy straw color, billowing soapy whit head, settles slowly to a half inch; sheet of thick lace down the glass. Smell: floral, hay, lemony and spicy, moderate amount of barnyard bouquet, hint of dough I'm the back. Taste: lemon, pineapple note, grainy...breakfast cereal, sugar cookie note, into a dry finish highlighting a big spicy and somewhat rindy hopping. This drinks light and refreshing, but the carbonation is really dialed in well to provide heft and lasting power at lower grav. Really well done...the brett adds a lot to all aspects of the beer vs Classique.
