-Pours a cloudy yellow. One finger head with poor retention. Leaves a light lace.
-Smells quite strongly of yeast. Odd for an IPA. Strong fruity scents.
-Bitter. Almost a burnt toast flavor. Fruity hints. Bready.
-A lot of carbonation, seems to dry out my throat. Medium body.
-Overall- Very odd in nearly every aspect. Not anything I would expect out of an IPA. Doesn't seem to have much of the signature hops flavors that I've come to expect out of an IPA. That aside, it's just okay. Probably would not buy again.

Poured with a ton of head for some reason. Either this bottle has been shaken up or there was just a ton of carbonation in the bottle. Once the beer has settled, it has a semi-cloudy, off yellow color to it. There's a little bit of sediment in the beer and a good amount of bubbles streaming to the top. It's got a strange aroma on it - not what I expected. A little bit of oak, maybe some Belgian yeast. Very little in the way of hop presence. I am starting to think this beer is quite old. There's no date on the bottle, but it has a very funky taste to it. Very little in terms of hops. Not very impressive at all. There's simply too much carbonation in this beer. I am not really getting any flavor. I can't tell if the beer is old or if it's just a bad beer. Overall, not impressed. Not much flavor. Not much aroma. Too much carbonation. Again, not sure if this bottle is infected or old, so take this review with a grain of salt.

I love the package art on this one, but I love the name even more an awesome puny ode to hops and one of the best bands of all time THE CURE!!!! unfortunately its one of my least favorite styles, Belgian ipa.... wish it was a double, triple, black or even just a normal ipa.

A: hazy pale straw golden color with a nice 3/4 inch white head that quickly dissipates.
S:smells more on the Belgian side rather than the hoppy ipa side :( hop aromas still apparent but not overly so. has strong clovey/yeasty/grassy Belgian aroma.
T: wow surprisingly good, the hops initially subtly shock the palate combining with the yeast and clove, mostly earthy and floraly hops come to the for but the finish is a little on the dry side with a crazy good tart finish, yum!
M: lower on the carbonation side for a Belgian style, like low/high which really floats my boat - that's probably the biggest turn off for me with Belgians - high champagne like carbonation - but not here!
O.A.: for a style that I really don't like this was a very pleasant surprise, try it even if you don't generally like Belgian style ipas, definitely try it if you do!!

Pours into a small tulip glass a slightly hazed lemony yellow with a large blooming white head that settles very slowly leaving multiple rings of thick lace behind.Lemon oils, lightly spiced phenols, and toasted grain in the nose.Lemon comes to find upfront on the palate along with some grapefruit juice, toasted cereal grain and just a hint of funk and phenol spice round out the flavors profile. Not bad and kinda refreshing, not over the top with the yeast wich is a good thing...in my opinion.

12oz bottle.

Pours hazy gold with a thin white head and some webbed lacing.

Aromatics are a blend of Belgian phenols and some mild hops. Apples and cloves with hints of tropical fruit and mint.

Medium bodied with a crisp mouthfeel.

The palate is cracker-dry and has a good dose of piney, fruity hops.

Finishes with a lingering bitterness, middle-of-the road hoppiness, and clovey phenols.

Tasty enough but this beer doesn't deliver the hops as eluded to on the label. Perhaps not a fresh bottle.

After sampling Stillwater's less than stellar high alcohol offerings the other day at Max's, it was a complete relief and joy to come upon this beer.

The beer pours an attractive hazy gold color with surprisingly good head retention and lacing. The nose is just lovely in this beer, showcasing an attractive intermix of light tropical fruit, honey, orange citrus, tangerine and light vanilla. The flavor profile replicates the nose in this excellent, well balanced IPA, with the beer showing just enought hoppy bitterness on the finish to counter the light tropical fruit. Ultimately, this beer is on the dry side, which I think enhances its drinkability. Mouthfeel is otherwise fairly full (for a Belgian IPA), but the beer is not at all heavy or tiring. The finish is long, lightly bitter, and spice filled.

Just delicious and served by the imperial pint at Max's. This may well be the best beer I've ever had from Stillwater (reminds me of a hoppier version of the solid stateside saison), and hopefully will be a beer that will be available on a regular basis.

Edit from 11/2/12. Tried the regular draft version at max's on Saturday. While still enjoyable, I thought the draft version really paled in comparison to the cask version sampled previously. Probably would rate the regular draft version a straight 4... still good, but no where near as excellent as the cask version.

12 oz bottle. Pours hazy golden yellow with a big rocky white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is wheaty malts with resiny hops and some spicy belgian yeast and some tropical fruit.

The flavor is sweet bready malts with some funky spicy yeast and a little fruit and a pretty big bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with lots of sharp carbonation.

Overall, a solid spicy Belgian IPA. It has good bitterness, but the spice and funk overwhelm the hop flavors.
