Pours a medium brown color with a white head and some lacing, Aroma of malted barley and a slight fruity sweetness. The taste is malty, and a bit of dark bread and raisin. Good flavor for a bock and the fruit in the taste is quite nice. A hint of alcohol around malty sugars and a bit of hops. Finishes with sweet malt. Overall, this is a pretty good brew, a bit sweet, but drinkable for sure.

Enjoyed from a 12 oz bottle, this most excellent bock from Rivertown pours a beautiful amber with a thick off white soapy foam and clinging lacing. Nose of browned toast, raisin, light herbal hops, and sweet caramel malts. Flavors follow the nose with rich caramel and fresh bread like notes, mixed with a pleasant nutty characteristic and mild herbal hop in the background. One of the better bocks I have had this year. SOLID.

12 ounce bottle into lager glass, no bottle dating. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy reddish copper color with a small dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, light roast, green apple, raisin, plum, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Ok aromas with solid complexity and decent balance of dark/bready malt and fruity yeast ester notes; with solid strength. A bit too estery with green apple on the nose. Taste of caramel, toast, toffee, brown sugar, brown bread, light chocolate, raisin, fig, plum, herbal, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light earthy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, toffee, brown sugar, brown bread, light chocolate, raisin, fig, plum, herbal, light pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice complexity and robustness of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast ester, and earthy hop flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth and fairly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this a nice Bock style. Good balance, complexity, and robustness of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast ester, and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth to drink for the ABV. If the nose wasn’t overly estery this definitely would have scored a bit higher. A nicely enjoyable offering.

12oz bottle (no date) served in a shaker pint glass.

Appearance: Hazy orange-amber with lots of bubbles coming up through the beer. Thin off-white head. Some small strands of lacing that would slide back down the glass to the original head.

Smell: Bit of caramel upon first poured, but then after awhile the smell goes away completely - almost odorless. With a very deep inhale I can pick up a tiny bit of noble hops and some of the caramelized malt again.

Taste: Up front a mix of toasted malt, caramel, and something metallic. Moves quickly to a burnt sugar, herbal/spicy hop finish with some lingering mild sweetness.

Mouthfeel: Highly carbonated - fizzy. Some stickiness to the teeth.

Overall / Drinkability: Hmm....just okay I think. Maybe it would be better with food. By itself nothing special and I've had better bocks. Tasty enough, but everything together leaves something to be desired.

Pours a clear golden brown with a billowing khaki head that leaves modest lacing as it slowly dissipates.

Floral hops, nutty, toasted malt, and light melanoidins form the aroma.

There's a metallic character in the flavor, which also has a malty, toasted backbone. Something's not quite right. Almost fruity.

Body is moderate, carbonation is light, and alcohol warmth is substantial.

The metallic character really kills this. Good toasted malt backbone, though.
