A. Pours cloudy very pale yellow with just a wisp of a white foam head.

S. A nice lemon tartness with a touch of oak.

T. Lemon tartness, oak, some barnyard mustiness, a touch of peach, and a bit of white wine.

M. Fairly thin with a high carbonation level.

D. Highly drinkable. Great on a warm summer night.

M. A good beer; certainly one of the best from Cincinnati. I wish it was a bit more full in terms of both mouthfeel and flavor. It's a decent tartness, but it should be sitting on top of a more complex background. I certainly hope they continue to refine this.

VIntage 2011

A - Pours a hazy light orange with a small soapy, white head that fades pretty quickly.

S - Tart, oaky, lemon, slightly floral.

T - Tart lemon and orange, oaky and finishes funky.

D - Light body with good carbonation.

O - Nice tartness, oaky, citrus with a pleasant funk. Good beer.

750 ml bottle into a brandy snifter

This is upon opening has some of that classic lambic smell, which is always a good thing. Once entering the glass it bubble up about 1/2 a finger of head before quickly disappearing into a very slim rim of bubbles. the nice golden hue of the beer is vibrant and cloudy at the same time. the aroma from the opening still last in the glass and is very enticing, which leads into the taste. the taste wasnt quite as stellar as the smell, it has a bit of watery essence at the end of the sip, that would be the biggest complaint. 1 or 2 yrs down the road i can see this developing more in the bottle. the mouthfeel was spot on for a nice american sour. overall im glad i have a second bottle and ill be seeking at least one more out. good job Rivertown, I cant wait to get my hands on the other sours from this "local" brewery.

A: The beer is very hazy yellow in color. It poured with a thin white head that quickly died down, leaving a large patch of bubbles in the center of the glass and a thin collar around the edge. The head completely faded away.
S: There are light aromas of sour lemon juice and barnyard funk in the nose.
T: Like the smell, the taste has a little bit of sourness with hints of lemon juice.
M: It feels relatively light-bodied and a little tart on the palate with a low amount of carbonation.
O: For a sour beer, this is definitely very easy to drink. It would make for a good selection for people who are just getting into this style.

750 ml bottle, 2012 vintage, poured into a tulip glass.

A- Pours a hazy dark golden yellow color, topped with a thin, watery white head, leaves a bit of lacing.

S- Musty, sweaty funk, a solid amount of acidity, leaning a bit towards acetic. It smells better than I expected, there are some attributes of its Belgian counterparts here that are more present than you typically get in American sours.

T- Moderate amount of acidity, both lactic and acetic here but still leaning towards acetic. Some wheat and grain flavor, along with a bit of lemon and stone fruit.

M- Medium-bodied, smooth feel, dry finish.

O- A very solid American sour. I've gotta emphasize though that this is not a lambic, and never could be (it also probably shouldn't invite that comparison either, which can only ever be unfavorable for itself), but besides the linguistic technicalities this is a really nice, tasty, drinkable sour.

This beer was served in a flute. I had some reservations with this beer at the start. I was thinking surely this wouldnt be a good beer. Lambic from Cincinnati who would have thought of it?

A: The color of the beers body is a bright clear golden coloration with active carbonation. The head of the beer lasted for about 30 seconds and was gone. You need to be careful pouring this beer as the bottle has a hell of a lot of sediment.

S: The aroma of the beer has alot of the expected funkyness from the yeast. Nice acidic, tart aromas combine with a bit of oak and mild fruity aromas.

T: The tartness and funkyness of the beer are not aggressive but I definitely know its there. A bit of fruityness hits my mouth about midway kind of like a cider that has been hit with berries. Nice tartness start to finish.

M- The body of the beer is light. The carbonation is active and works really well with the beers character. The acidity and tartness are really refreshing.

O: I am really impressed with this offering from Rivertown. This is a really good stab at making a very funky beer. Well done!

2011 vintage poured from a 750ml bottle courtesy of RocPorterFanatic (TiMiaB BIF) into an Ithaca Excelsior Tulip glass.

A: Crystal clear golden color with some copper hues. Aggressive pour leads to a pure white 1 finger fizzy head that disappears fast. Slight lacing, not uber consistent.

S: Nice blend of funk, sour notes, fresh cut grass and some citrus peel.

T: Follows the nose directly with wonderful blends of typical lambic flavors. Not quite as tart as many of the gueuzes but this is an unblended lambic so a bit of a toned down tart can be expected. The funk shines and then is balanced nicely by the pull of the sour fruit flavors. Almost a crab-apple flavor to it.

M: Well carbonated, nice and fizzy. Light-medium body.

O: An easy drinking, delicious unblended lambic. Not that many American breweries are brewing traditional lambics but this one is highly recommended.

Bottle pour for New Brew Thursday's 3rd Anniversary event held at Beachwood BBQ & Brewing in Long Beach, CA.

Pours a murky honey orange with a foamy khaki head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is sour, tart, and funky with malt and fruity aromas. Taste is much the same with a fruity flavor on the finish. There is a mild amount of acidity on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with solid aromas and flavors.

22oz bottle, corked and capped a la Cantillon, $11.99 in Columbus. A lambic from OH, I'm very interested to see this. From the label: "Unlike conventional ales and lagers, which are fermented by carefully cultivated strains of brewer’s yeasts, our award winning lambic beer is instead produced by exposing it to the wild yeasts and bacterias that are native to the Senne Valley, of Brussels, Belgium. It is this unusual process involving over a year of fermentation which gives this beer its distinctive flavor: DRY, VINOUS, and CIDERY, with a crisp sour aftertaste."

This pours a hazy golden color with a thin foam that laces in splotchy clumps. Authentic aromas, softly tart with good mild funk. It tastes sour in an approachable way, hints of citrus fruits, a lasting bite. I think it tastes fantastic, definitely better than some from the authentic land (Belle-Vue in particular has earned my indifference, as has MortSubite).

Light carbonation, very appropriate mouthfeel and really drinkable. This stuff is really good, I guess I'm surprised.

This is a very nice lambic, I think it would be great if they keep some in oak for a few years so they can take a stab at gueuze in the future. It would be very cool to see this type of development in the USA, especially in OH.
