Newer labels include "Oogst" (harvest). Older labels exclude "Oogst."
3 Fonteinen Schaarbeekse Kriek is the result of macerating local hand-picked Schaarbeekse cherries on young traditional lambic for at least one year, in a proportion of one kilo of sour cherries per liter of lambic. The cherry lambic is then blended with young lambic and bottles, after which our famous Schaarbeekse Kriek matures for another year at least in the bottle. Refined and with evolution in the glass. Natural fruit, no juice, syrup or sugars added. Unfiltered and unpasteurised.

From 01/15/12 notes. Big, big thanks to ahalloin for sharing this one; thanks Tony. A beer I've never had purely due to the price tag. 750ml bottle into a tulip. Bottled on 04/26/11.
a - Pours a deep purple-red color with one inch of fluffy white head and moderate carbonation evident. Looks like a great kriek.
s - Smells of sour cherries, brett, funky, earthy notes, spices, yeast, and oak. Very nice, close to a 4.5.
t - Tastes of tart cherries, sour dark fruits, spices, brett, oak, earthy, musty, funky notes, and some Belgian yeast. Tarter than the nose and a big step up to me.
m - Medium body and moderate to high carbonation. Crisp, very nice for a kriek.
o - Overall this is another great kriek from Drie Fonteinen. Is it better than their normal kriek? Probably by a little bit, but when you consider how much more expensive this one is, I don't know if it is worthh the price, certainly not often. The difference between this and their normal kriek is not as wide a gap as it is between their Oude Gueuze and Oude Gueuze Vitnage, so personally I'd rather buy 2-3 bottles of the normal Kriek for the same amount of money. Definitely a good beer though.

This is a great fruited lambic for those who like it sour. The combination of the tart schaarbeekse variety of cherries on top of the already tart 3F lambic base make for an experience that for me veered somewhat into acetic territory. Very clean, however, which was nice

Blend #61, 2020/2021 season. Absolutely phenomenal. An all-night sipper. The depth and intensity of the cherries is absolutely amazing. Rivals the Lou Pepe Kriek for the best Kriek I’ve ever had.
