Bottled in October 2019

It pours a very lightly hated deep golden color. A few bubbles form on the pour but vanish almost immediately. There's a mini ring of bubbles once things settle.

The smell is earthy but not quite full on funk. It has a pronounced apricot/peach smell with just a bit of lemon. White wine or white grape must. A tiny bit of pepper. Crackery malt and I get some apple and mild cider vinegar on the nose as well.

The taste is more funky than the smell - no doubt it's there but it's well-restrained.
It's got peach and apricot going on with just a little lemon. I get an apple note as well, but the vinegar in the taste is more like white wine or champagne vinegar. The malt comes through as more bready than cracker. Pepper kicks in on the back end of the swallow. It's very mildly on the acidic side but I find a little light sweetness as well - very little. After the swallow there's an almost oaky phenolic bite along with the peppery taste.

Mildly tart, zero bitterness, moderately carbonated. Finishes a little dry but not excessively so.

Overall this has a lot going on and even though it's old enough to shave, it's delightful to drink. I like that the funk comes to play in the taste yet doesn't overpower the other flavors. This is a fun beer to drink.

Copper colored with a light haziness. There’s a lot of vibrant carbonation bubbles erupting from within and just a trace of off white head. The aroma is of sour apple, barley, and pale wheat. I’m tasting pale wheat, barley and just a touch of Granny Smith apples at the back of the palate. The mouth is moderately carbonated and crisply refreshing.

Poured from a 375mL corked bottle (n12 / 22/23 7% ABV) into a Dogfish head nonic pint glass a hazy light cider color with a slight fizzy head that dissipated before the pour was finished leaving no lacing and minimal visible carbonation. Fruity aromas of pear, peach and apple merge with a funky tartness that melds together. Taste follows nose with a slight lemony sourness that finished on the dry side. Sourness lingers in the mouth and back of the throat. Very smooth and drinkable with very little bitterness and just the right amount of prickle from the carbonation on the tongue.

From the No. 81 22/23 release. From a 375ml bottle poured into a tulip. It decanted nicely. Most of the sediment remained in the bottle. A hazy amber gold. A thin head soon diminished to a persistent ring. Some fine patchy lacing.

Vinous smells. Some funky brett. A very full taste. Leather, apricot and lemon. Very well melded. An extremely long finish. Lots to like here.

Very smooth for a Gueuze. A medium body and light tickling carbonation. Overall an outstanding Gueuze. Definitely a sipper and well worth a try.

Copenhagen 28/10 2017. 75 cl bottle from Vin De Table, Frederikssundsvej, Kbh. NV. From the 2016/17 season (assemblages no. 8) with an ABV of 5,4. Simple stylish bottle with a big 3 printed on the bottle.

Pours hazy golden yellow with small white head. Settles as thin rim of foam along the side of the glass. No lacing.

Aroma is fresh and tart with a nice dry streak. Some slightly sweeter unripe apples in the background.

Fairly strong carbonation and watery texture.

Flavor is tart fruit with only subdued sweetness. Finish is dry as a white wine.

Nice crisp and dry geuze. Makes me miss summer.

375ml bottle from 1998.

Pours clear copper with a quickly dissipating head of white. Funky horseblanket, lemon-rubbed copper, dried grapefruit in the nose. Light bodied with a crisp, sharp as tacks mouthfeel. Mildly acidic and ultra-dry on the palate with light malt, grapefruit zest, and a kiss of minerals. Finishes dry and tart.

Look - Pours a clear dark golden color, with a nice head, that goes away after about a minute or two.

Smell - A very funky earthy tart scent with a hint of lemon.

Taste - A sour slightly vinegary taste with a touch of lemon. Decent.

Feel - This is a bit on the sour side for my liking.

Overall - A decent sour ale, though a bit tart for me.

Pours deep golden / amber - a little haze but not much. Has a thin, foamy head that doesn't dissipate - super effervescent beer. On the nose getting some citrus and that classic barnyard funk. Flavor-wise it packs a punch of tart citrus (lemon, grapefruit) and raspberry flavor with some green apple. Naturally followed by some earthy & funky notes with just a bit of vegetation. Admittedly it's slightly on the tart side for me, but overall well balanced and super smooth.

Golden color, with lively, champagne-like head. Barnyard, wood, lemon, and grain in the aroma. Perfectly balanced sourness in taste. The classic of the style.

I love the look of this beer. So hazy and cloudy. A gorgeous gold. Almost no head. That instant funk to it that I really love. Some sourness but not overwhelming. Notes of almonds.
