Pours a clear amber-orange with a finger of head. Aroma is orange, lemongrass, herbal, and grass. There is a touch of oak at the back. Flavor profile is orange, lemongrass, herbal, and lemon. The final note there turns it slightly sour, but only enough to cause a little pucker. Mouth feel is champagne like, with an effervescent and dry feel. It's bubbly, but allows the flavor profile to shine rather than distract from the flavor profile. Overall, a bubbly, favorably-simple Oude Geuze.

Served in a 12oz snifter from a 375mL bottle.

Bottled: 1/16/17
Best Before: 10/26/37
Blend n° 14 - Season 16-17

Pours a deep, hazy, rusty golden color, with bubbling white foam that quickly fades away. No lace retention, with champagne carb continuously bubbling up.

Awesome aromas that have a grassy, hay-like backbone, with lots of lemony citrus and oak barrel present throughout. A nice subtle tartness rounds everything out.

The yeast makes its presence known right away. A symphony of green apple, lemon, grapefruit, earth, grass, oak, and white wine. A slight funk, but nothing that puts off from the amazing flavor profile.

A light/medium champagne-like body. Effervescent, dry. High carbonation.

16/17 version. Fairly hazy golden color with a frothy white head the settled quickly. Bright complex aroma with hay, grass, lemons, and wood. As expected, the complexity was there on the palate. Fairly sour lemon giving way to wine, oak, funk, and bleu cheese. High carbonation and dry on the finish. Outstanding.

Last night I had 3 fonteinen Oude Geuze a Gueuze from Brouwerij Drie (3) Fonteinen, Belgium, ABV 6.00%. Gueuze are sours but tend to be drier, more intense and tart than regular Lambiks, and it is true for this one too. However, despite its dryness this one comes out very nicely like a nice dry wine, and the tartness is not aggressive, just pleasantly pronounced. If you don't mind tartness it is really great.

Look: Hazy golden thick white head

Aroma: lemon, apple, white wine

Taste: It is quite tart and dry, green apples, lemon, grapefruit, oak barrel and white wine, just right.

Feel: light to medium body
