Tart lemon juice, pungent red peppers, white grapes, cheesecloth, and vanilla are the stereotypical gueuze descriptors that come to mind upon first whiff. As the brew approaches room temperature, sour yoghurt-like lactic notes also join the fray. Notes of hay and barnyard funk intensify with the passage of time. Musty musty musty.

Yas. Just... yas. Tart lemons. Citrus pulp. Oak and light vanilla. The barnyard funk on this one is most aptly described as wet hay in my opinion; there's a pleasant grainy sensation that balances and undercuts the potential funky horse maneur-ish quality of this style. More sour lemons and white grape must toward the back comprise the dry dry finish of this superbly balanced brew.

Medium-light bodied, with a creamy initial mouthfeel. The carbonation is on the lighter side but is consistently present until the very end. Bone dry finish.

Poured from a 375ml bottle, bottled 15/11/2012, best before 15/11/2022.

Glass fills with foam, loads of beads of carbonation stuck in a nice gold body, very effervescent. Smell is tannic, apples and herbs. Nice mix of sweet and tart in the flavor, apple peelings and sour apples also. Very much enjoyed this treat.

Note: 23 Feb 2012 bottling date

A: Pours a very lightly hazy deep golden yellow in color with heavy amounts of active visible carbonation quickly rising from the bottom of the glass and a faint lemon yellow highlight. The beer has a finger tall fizzy white head that reduces to a medium to large patch of thick film and a medium thick ring a the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate to strong aromas of sourness, tart citrus/lemon rind, and lighter aromas of oak + barnyard funkiness.

T: Upfront there is a moderate amount of tart citrus/lemon rind and hay-like barnyard funkiness from the yeast. Moderate amounts of sourness are present that fade through the drinking of the beer. Moderate to heavy amounts of tart sourness but it is not overpowering.

M: Just heavier than light bodied with moderate to heavy amounts of carbonation. Moderate amounts of acidic prickliness and light amounts of dryness in the finish.

O: This is one of the easiest to drink beers in the style and is extremely enjoyable - probably one of the best ones I have had the opportunity to experience. Good flavors/aromas and sourness/tartness without being overpowering.
