Cloudy dark orange yellow, like dehydrated piss, with a frothy finger and a half of off white head. Minimal lacing.

Sour, dry, hay aroma. This follows in the taste with just the slightest apple sweetness up front, a little tartness midpalate and a very dry finish.

Medium bodied with decent carbonation. Really nice.

From Zombier. In Teku glass. Playing Pillars of Eternity. It may fault of my palate, but although I haven't found it completely disgusting, I didn't enjoy it either. Just tartnesss with some lemon

Drie Fontienen - Oude Gueuze 2015 – a 1, 2 and 3-year blend
375 ml bottle at The Sovereign in Washington, DC. Poured into tall rocks glass.

Are there any bad gueuzes? A nice beer. Always nice when I can stay in the states and have these beers. But, at least on this day, my palate is telling me that there are better gueuzes out there. 4

A – Pours a crystal-clear onion yellow with a frothy white head. Well carbonated, the cork was explosive but there was no gushing, 4.25

S – 3.75

T – Tart like under ripe fruit, like sour cherries with no cherry flavor. Low minerality. 4

MF - Medium light body, bone dry. 3.75

375ml cork-caged bottle poured into an oversized wine glass. Bottled 17/10/2013.

Hazy copper color with some orange shade and some sediment, there is a finger of foamy white head building up and collapsing after a short while to some frothy ring and sheet on the surface, some spotty and patchy lace left on the glass-side.

Very fruity in a nose, it leans towards on more sour fruitiness rather than sharp tartness with notes of green apple, sour berries, lemon, tart cherry, raspberry, and slight acidic. Wild yeast too with its evidence of big funkiness as well as oak and wood from the time in there. There is also some earthiness and slight herbal note.

Led by the flavors of fruitiness, sourness, and some tartness, they are all harmoniously displayed through the palate sensation. From green apple, sour berries, lemon, tart cherry, raspberry, subtle acidic, funkiness, dry oak, wood, earthiness, to herbal, it is almost immaculate. There is no bitterness here to let you focus on all the greatness of Gueuze spectrum.

Medium body with smooth mouthfeel and moderate carbonation through the palate, the overall feeling is crisp, well-rounded, and very refreshing with a very pleasantly dry finish that instantly leads to the next sip.

This one is obviously a topnotch from the art of brewing. I have no word to describe. It just will never ever go wrong. To die for.

Bottled on 9/03/2016; Consumed on the last night staying at A Snug Harbor Inn.

Pours a light honey color with soda-like carbonation with a ring around the edge
of the glass.

Aroma is of green apple, lemon peel, and a solid amount of funk.

Taste is incredibly complex. Prickly carbonation. Lemony citrus, green grape,
and green apple. Brett character appears. Funky farmyard.

Overall, the beer lives up to the hype. I see it pairing well with a pan seared
halibut with Israeli cous cous. It gets a 95/100.

2013 stamp on bottle. Pour is a nice semi opaque golden hue, big white head on initial pour. Lemon zest and fresh hay on initial aroma, hints of sharp cheese, nice citrus. Taste is zesty citrus upfront, and quickly turns a sharp cheddar funk especially as it warms. Nothing overly tart or sour, more funk than anything. Suprisingly creamy mouthfeel, doesn't finish too dry. Excellent Gueuze, nice complexity. Better and more funky as it warms.

Stamped on the bottle : February 6th 2014. This was poured into a stange. The appearance was a nice looking hazy golden orange to yellow color. There was no head nor lacing. The smell had a sweet to bitter blend of grapefruit, slight rind, a tad of light woodiness ever so slightly as it warmed. The taste blended all of the previously mentioned characters to a slight sour but allowed a decent tart citrus fruitiness to blend really nicely. The aftertaste was subtle and had a light citrus to it. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body. If it was Summer, I probably would have pounded the whole thing within two gulps. Holy sessionable feel. The carbonation seemed to be there but felt nicely. Overall, I say this was a wonderful gueuze I would definitely love to have again.

Almost blew my head off opening this thing. Crazy carbonation. Poured into my Bruery snifter.

Look: Deep gold, slightly hazy. Creamy head retained throughout drinking with lots of carbonation bubbles.

Smell: Smells like spring after it rains. Floral lemony grass notes. Musty old book that you haven't opened in a while. Green apple with over ripe lemon.

Taste: Green apple, aspirin-y lemon. Candied yet stale lemon mid palate--not overwhelmingly sour though. Almost like a stale orange juice carton from elementary school, totally in a good way, haha. Slight white pepper alcohol on the back end. So funky in a good way.

Feel: The head is very creamy and makes this a very smooth drink.

Overall: One of the funkier tasting sours I've had in my day. Not as much on the nose, but definitely on the taste. I want to find another one and age it--it is an early 2016 beer but still had ridiculous carbonation--seems that it would age well over many years. Great beer.

Poured a murky golden color with ample off white head. The nose had a good amount of barnyard funk to it with oak smoothing it out. The taste is slightly tart with lemon, has some grape must before smoothing out with vanilla from the oak barrels. This is one of my all time favorite beers. I could drink this everyday. Wish it was a little easier for me to find.
