Denver Ghost Whale Tasting 2013 during GABF. 750ml bottle into wine glass.

Pours a hazy golden yellow, light white head, wisps, thin ring. Nose is very subtle, yet complex...citrus, oak, funk, smooth sour notes at this point. Flavor is the same, the age has helped smoothed this Gueuze out quite well. Oak, barnyard funk, lemon citrus, smooth. Light body, light carbonation, dry finish.

I much prefer this beer to 3F Millennium (both from 2000), has much more complexity and flavor. The problem is, this one is many more times harder to locate. Hopefully, I'll get to revisit this one in the future and do a Millennium vs. Selectie C throw-down.

Thank you Bill and Ryan!

Pale yellow crystal clear lamboc glides into my Eclipse snifter with such a lovely hay hue. Lemony acetic nose with a hint of earth, must, brine, and brackish hay. Flavor is light, quite tart acetic and hint of lactic, some mushrooms earth notes xomingle wihth light citrus, the barest amount of liberality, quite bright flavor that is soft and elegant. Great gueuze! Mouthfeel is perhaps the best part of this beer, with super smooth and soft well water enhanced by playful popping carbonation. As my glass sits the carbonation diminishes in the glass, which is perhaps the one knock against the otherwise beautiful feel. The flavor was somewhere between a 4.25 and 4.5, so I will give the overall a slight bump. Not as intense as I was expecting by any means, in fact just the opposite, soft and refined overall, and imminently drinkable. A joy!

Bottled on 5/25/2000, this is a Japan-only blend from Armand's "most sour" barrels back in 1997, selected by Frank Cornelissen and Yoko Sano. Brought back from Japan by Jason, thanks a lot for sharing this special beer.

A: Bright straw yellowish orange with a big white head that's fast fading. Nice color and clarity.

S: Barnyard blanket and horsey funk with cheese and earth. Notes of lemon, apricot, and salt. Nice oak presence. Mildly lactic with an evident citric acidity. The beer exhibits exceptional balance.

T: Piquant oak with a moderate citric acidity up front and a little lemon. Moderate lactic sourness. Brackish hay and cheese with musty funk and leather notes. Mouth watering citric acidity in the finish.

M: Upper light in body with moderate carbonation. Mouthfeel is dry and lightly tannic.

Overall: An exceptional Gueuze. Well balanced and delicious.
