I never thought I would have the chance to try this, but there was one bottle left when I went to Himmeriget in Copenhagen. Of all of the great lambics and gueuze that I got to try at Himmeriget, this one and Armand & Tommy take the top honors. Herfst is pretty difficult to describe - it is just perfect. It also had a nice ruby tint that I wasn't expecting.

Pours a beautiful amber hue with a slight haze to the clarity and a fluffy, one inch, off-white head. Nose expresses citrus, funk and delicate floral notes. Taste follows nose with the addition of green apple. Flavor profile is delicate and balanced. Mouthfeel is light in body with a pleasant acidity without being overpowering. Overall, in doing a side by side with the other three seasons, I have to say that Herfst is my favorite. I'd love to revisit the line-up in 10 years.

The aroma on this guy was just outstanding. The very definition of "funk" and one of the most perfect examples for the style I can cite. Taste is oaky, a bit tart, and grassy. Medium bodied and very dry. Fantastic.

#7000 - This bottle was generously given to me by MrKennedy when he visited the east coast several months ago. I shared this bottle with Stokfo1992. The beer pours out as a hazy golden amber color with a cream colored head on top. The retention is pretty good for the beer being a Gueuze. The smell was of some green apples and some sweet grains and mild funk. The taste wasn't as acidic as I was expecting it to be, it was pretty toned down. The mouthfeel was pretty heavy compared to a lot of the other beers I've had of the same style. Overall it was a very palatable Gueuze, it was nice to have this bottle on hand for this milestone. Always fun to try things like this.

Lots of foam when it was initially poured, but this is a great beer. Thanks to the group who brought this to a share.

Eternal gratitude goes out to my cousin Sonny for sharing this set at Ebenezer's 2016. Just stunning generosity.

A- A deep and hazy golden, coppery orange body from the 750ml into a short becher glass. The cork appeared to leak a bit and it shows as only a small film of foam forms on the beer and dies out fast. No lacing in sight.

S- Less pungent than the first two Armands sampled but still the general theme remains with intense lactic bacteria, sour fruits, smooth vinous oak barrel and a touch of cheese and barnyard must. A bit of a sulfur, young lambic character here makes you wonder about the average age of this blend.

T- Again, more laidback than the first two Armand brews that were sampled and reviewed. More tannic oak comes through as well as plenty of vinous yet sour grapes. The barrel shows quite a bit with wood coming out but nothing nearly abrasive. A touch of grainy sugars, tons of lactic acid, the slightest bit of acetic vinegar, oxidized sugar, cheese, sour underripe apricots, lemon and horse funk come to mind. Hints of phenolics and band-aid later on.

MF- Surprisingly well carbonated after seeing how the cork was soggy and the bottle leaked somewhat, a low-medium level but lacking the almost effervescent feel of the previous two. Once again some slickness and a very sour ending.

So far the tamest of the three we have sampled but still a beyond great blend of lambic; the depth of flavor in this series is insane even though I have to search for unique descriptors. Funk and sour lactic acid glorified by Armand. Truly blessed to get to sample these.

Smell is hay-forward, kinda like old chamomile tea. Abit of fruity alcohol estery goodness as it hits the palate -- almost banana-like. Lemon, raspberry skin, lingering citrus flavor. Delicious.

Lots of fizzy head that fades away. Golden orange color.

Floral and herbal. Nice funk. Fruity. Orange and lemon peel. Nice amount of sour. Light acidity.

Light bodied. Bubly carbonation. Great feel.

Solid beer for 6 years old! Very well done!
