BEER INFO

Brewed by:
Fulton Beer
Minnesota, United States | website

Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 7.00%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND, PERMANENTLY

Originally brewed as a one-off in celebration of the 300th batch at our original downtown Minneapolis brewery, this West Coast IPA was so well received we had to make it available year-round. It's built on a base of Pilsner malt and heavily hopped with Mosaic, one of our favorite -- and unfortunately nearly impossible to procure -- hop varieties. At 74 IBU and 7% ABV, 300 is pure hop candy.

Wow, what a showcase for Mosaic hops. Great mix of tropical, berry and citrus notes, with loads of hop oils. The aroma is similar to the taste, but the hop oils mute some of the tropical notes. Medium to full body that is very oily with a dry, bitter finish. Somewhat similar to Todd the Axe Man. Great beer overall but maybe a titch overwhelming.

L: Pours brilliant gold amber under a 2” sticky cream colored foam cap that takes 4 minutes to recede to 1/3 its original size.
S: Tropical fruit and bread crumb.
T: Big bold tropical fruit flavors over a biscuit background with a light fruity-malty sweetness and a balancing mild hop finish.
F: Very creamy medium body and carbonation.
O: Very well balanced and very well made.

Off flavours and smell. Strong onion character. Light Colour. Some orange. Overcarbonated. The happy gnome.

This is an excellent beer, though I would note it is an IPA, not a double IPA at 7% ABV. Color is an apricot amber, and the taste is very good, but the best part of this beer is the smell. Huge, tropical Mosaic hops on the nose. If I could bathe in this I would.

Thanks to Jeff for this one. 12oz. capped bottle into Tree House stemware.

Really clear, great looking beer. A nice contrast from the New England unfiltered IPA I'm used to. Nose is pine, tree sap, resin, grass and a touch of brown sugar. Aromatic and deep but I'm not sure about the flavor notes. Beer opens pine, bark and resin. There's a touch of sap in there also but this one screams west coast hops. Resiny from beginning to end with just a hint of citrus squeeze at the end. Pretty tasty. Light bodied with moderate to low carbonation. Smooth on the palate and really quenching going down. A quaffable beer for sure!

I'm still not a huge fan of the resiny, piney IPAs but offerings like this one are starting to grow on me. Its a bit more balanced with a concession to some of that juice-y fruit presence that I can't get enough of. Worth trying!

Bought this today on a recommendation as it being the best single hop Mosaic brew the person had experienced. I am not at all really familiar with single hopped beers or Mosaic hops either. That being said, the hop aroma and taste of this one is just really nice. Absolutely one of the tastiest IPAs I have ever had. I want more please !
