Formerly Batch 300
BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND, PERMANENTLY
Originally brewed as a one-off in celebration of the 300th batch at our original downtown Minneapolis brewery, this West Coast IPA was so well received we had to make it available year-round. It's built on a base of Pilsner malt and heavily hopped with Mosaic, one of our favorite -- and unfortunately nearly impossible to procure -- hop varieties. At 74 IBU and 7% ABV, 300 is pure hop candy.

20 oz tap mug at Lucky's 13 pub in Plymouth, MN.
L: Pours fairly clear light copper with a 3/4" loose creamy white head that goes to thick edge foam, steady med-light carbo, sticky lacing with some banding.
S: Caramelized malts, piney hops, lightly floral, fruits.
T: Sweet caramelized malts, tropical fruits- mainly orange & zest but with grapefruit, papaya, a hint of bread, resin. It is hop forward.
F: Lightly crisp medium bodied with a med-long finish that has a light linger.
O: A very good tasting and feeling American IPA. Nicely fruited, only gently sweet, rather satisfying feel. Extremely easy drinking for its 7% ABV. A lovely WCIPA and it is absolutely outstanding in its style.

Pours into an impy nonic a chill hazed orange tinged golden with a half finger white head that has long lasting power.Mainly tropical fruits in the nose, alot of papaya....That's not a west coast ipa aroma, just sayin.Flavors start out with that sweet tropical fruitiness than some resin notes comes into play, slightly bitter into the finish. It's a decent ipa but I think some brewers have short term memory....That's all I have to say about that.

A: Pours a very slightly hazy medium to dark golden amber in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and moderate medium golden yellow + honey + burnt orange + bright orange colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall dense sudsy foamy light beige head that slowly reduces to a handful of small patches of medium thick film surrounded by a large patch of very thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Slightly heavier than moderate amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate to strong aromas of tropical/papaya + tropical/pineapple + citrus/orange + citrus/grapefruit zest hops over the top of light to moderate aromas of toasted + bready + caramel malts with a light amount of caramel sweetness.
T: Upfront there are light to moderate flavors of toasted + bready + caramel malts with a light amount of caramel sweetness. That is followed by moderate to strong flavors of tropical/papaya + tropical/pineapple + citrus/orange + citrus/grapefruit zest hops which impart a moderate amount of lingering bitterness.
M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation.
O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and refreshing. Enjoyable tropical + citrus hop flavors and aromas with just enough bitterness - more of an old-school style IPA with a more modern hop choice.

Appearance: Pours a beautiful, deep, amber, bronze, and orange color. Slightly opaque. A medium, off-white head that fades quickly. SRM of 16. (4.25)
Aroma: Strong aromas of sweet and wet lemon/grapefruit citrus, pineapple ,dinosaur melon, apricot, peach, and pine. Some pine berry and dank orange-type citrus underneath. A malty, but strong pine finish. Juicy, wet, and sweet aromas. (4.25)
Flavor: Flavor follows the nose with more dank melon/berry, dinosaur melon, resinous pineapple peach, with some buttery lemon notes. Some dank orangish citrus flavors too. Then it's followed by a pilsner, caramel, and toffee malt profile. Minimal bitterness. Lots of dank pine, dinosuar melon, and caramel malts. Almost a cinnamon, caramel malt profile. Finishes dry though. (4.00)
Feel: Medium to heavy bodied. Moderate carbonation. A little sticky and syrupy, but not overwhelming. Leans sweeter, but still a moderate pithy bitterness is left on the palate. (3.75)
Compared to Castle Danger Fresh Hop IPA: This one is slightly brighter orange. Less aromas. More tangerine, nectarine and dank citrus. Less airy. Less aroma and flavor overall. It's more dank, resinous, and weaker.
Compared to DankBot from Inight Brewing 4/29/20: Pours a light color. Similar strength, but different aromas. Much more dank and pine aromas. Much more earthy pine on the flavor. Less peach, mango, strawberry fruit. Finishes with a darker malt and stronger bitterness.
Compared to Stone Delicious IPA 8/1/20: Pours a slightly darker color. More citrus on the aromas of peach, tangerine.
Compared to Bad Weather Hopcromancer 10/1/20: Extremely similar. Pours a slightly darker color. More citrus and dank pine aromas.
Compared to Furious 11/29/20: Pours a slightly lighter color. More pineapple, dinosaur melon. Less caramelized citrus with a similar amount of pine. Similar bitterness too. A heavier and sweeter body.
Compared to Lagunitas' StereoHopic IPA 1/27/21: Pours a darker more amber color. Stronger aromas and more green tropical melon, pineapple, banana. Less orchardfruit, apple, pear, green grape. A stronger bitterness and leans more west-coast.
4/12/21: A darker pour. More wet and sweet tropical fruit, melon, berry. Less citrus, orchardfruit and lychee. Dryer and cleaner.
8/23/21: Stronger aromas. More citrus/melon/berry/tropical. Less caramel and orchardfruit.
Compared to Hop Valley Brewing Bubble Stash IPA 4/21/21: Pours a darker color. Very similar aromas. Slightly more dank flower and melon. Less dank orange on the aroma. On the flavor has more intense flower and dank melon. Sweeter and heavier. More pine bitterness as well. Extremely similar.
1/25/22: Pours darker. Stronger aromas. More melon/berry. Less resinous orange.
Compared to Insight Brewery's Hop Drop West Coast IPA 5/3/21: More juicy and resinous tropical melon/berry. Less grapefruit, herbs, and dank. More Mosaic here.
Overall: This beer is dank beyond dank. Tons of dank, earthy tropical fruit. Some pine. As it warms the tropical Mosaic quality starts to emerge. It's Mosaic hops with a rich midwest malt twist of CINNAMON & CARAMEL. Comes across as a DANK and OVERRIPE PINEAPPLE & DINOSAUR MELON. Lots of green citrus too. Often times mosaic beers have a bitter black tea and berry finish, but this one is straight DANK MELON, GREEN CITRUS, AND some EARTHY PINE with a nice caramel malt profile. Yet tons of bitterness and leans west-coast. It's a WEST COAST MOSAIC IPA. It reminds me of a mosaic version of Furious. Overall, a very delicious and highly rated beer. (Final Rating 4.02)
