This is really hard to review. The aroma has huge notes of banana, tropical fruit, and farmhouse funk. Sweet and tart overall. Somewhat putrid rotten fruit aroma as well, which should be disgusting, but I can't stop smelling it, like staring at a terrible car accident.

The taste is similar, with overripe tropical fruit and banana somewhat balanced by light funky and spicy notes. I am a little less forgiving of the rotten fruit in the taste than the aroma.

Moderate carbonation, medium body with a tart, borderline dry, finish. Overall, this is a huge Saison, driven by very overripe fruit notes. Fascinating beer overall, but not sure how much I actually like it.

Edit: Days later I am thinking about drinking it again. That says something.

I have had this from a growler and on tap at the Pig & Fiddle.
A: Hazy copper amber under a thin white foam collar that leaves splotches of lace.
S: fruit, over ripe fruit, traces of banana.
T: fruit, caramel and biscuit, banana, hops are not aggressive F: Medium body, medium carbonation to a touch above
O: An easy to drink saison.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a chalice.

Appearance: Pours a bright golden orange with a lot of rising bubbles. About two fingers of white head with decent retention. Leaves a lot of creamy lacing.

Smell: A fruity and floral yeast driven aroma with hints of spices and dry fruit. Belgian yeast with a scent of farmhouse funk, pepper, and slight clove. Fruit esters of banana, pear, lemon zest, and apple. Pale malt hints of wheat, straw, grains, and biscuit. Also some hints of floral and earthy hops. A pretty nice Belgian style aroma.

Taste: Like the smell indicates, a fruity, yeasty, and floral Belgian style taste with notes of dry fruit and spice. Upfront Belgian style yeast with some spice notes of pepper, farmhouse funk, and clove. Dried fruit notes of banana, pear, apple, and lemon. Bready malt notes of grains, wheat, straw, cracker, and biscuit. Subtle floral and earthy hop presence. A pretty good taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a medium to high level of carbonation. Creamy, spicy, and smooth with a drying finish. Alcohol is masked well.

Overall: A pretty good take on an Imperial Farmhouse style ale. Good balance of spice and fruit esters. A nice imperial counterpart to Fulton’s Expat.

Thanks to Jeff for this one. Bottle 1207 of 3000. 750ml capped bottle into a Surly teku. Shared with schen9303.

Nose is floral and woody. Hints of grape, flour, grass, citrus fruit, brown sugar and funk. Really unique and very aromatic. A touch powdery on the palate. Notes of wine grape, oak, peat, booze, coriander and peppercorn. A touch too sweet with a mellow tartness. End is spicy with more wet wood. Solid. Kind of a weird combination of flavors. Fluffy, foamy and frothy in the mouth. Sparkles on the palate and finishes quenching, funky and dry. Very good.

Its hard to say how I feel about this beer. Certainly one-of-a-kind though.

Has a nice golden orange hue. It looks like a DIPA. Just a slight barnyard funk. Taste like a refreshing saison no way I would have guessed the ABV.

Poured from 12 oz bottle into tulip.
A: Pours a clear golden hue with high carbonation producing a 2-3 inch frothy white head with good retention.
S: Hint of spicy citrus, some farmhouse funk, toasted grains (?barley), white pepper, and mild earthy minerals. Just a faint hint of Nelson (white wine).
T: White grape, spicy grains, and some off funk notes. The pieces didn't quite come together...off notes and a bit off balance.
M: Light-medium body. Hint of sweetness. Bitter and dry throughout. Becoming more bitter in the finish.
D: The idea was interesting with the Nelson Sauvin hops, but I don't think they quite fit with everything else here. I was intrigued by this beer, but unfortunately left disappointed.

This beer pours a hazy red-orange color. The head is a half in height, and recedes quickly into sparse lacing. The aroma is barnyard, wet hey, leather, blood oranges, hibiscus, spice box. The taste is quite dank. It is fruitier than the aroma with the barnyard, funky notes almost nonexistent. The mouthfeel is medium-full bodied with low carbonation for the style. Overall, this is a decent beer, but there are many, many better saisons out there that I would rather drink.
