Notes: Brewed specifically for Minneapolis' annual holiday festival in the heart of the city. The Holidazzle Proper Porter pours a beautiful black with ruby highlights. Flavors of toffee and chocolate help to balance the roastiness of this wonderful porter.

A: The beer is very dark brown in color; when held up to a bright light the bottom of the glass is very dark red and there is a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a minuscule collar of off white bubbles and bits of lacing on the surface.
S: Moderate aromas of dark and chocolate malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of dark and chocolate malts along with a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels nearly medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. There is a touch of dryness in the finish.
O: This beer has a lot of malty flavors in it but is easy to drink because it isn't that heavy on the palate.

Fairly safe porter with decent flavors. No date printed on bottle. Pours a rust-honeyed color with some minimal fluffy off-white head and very scant spotty lingering lacing. Smells of malt, toasted nuts, a little caramel and brown sugar. No real hops. Taste follows the nose, quite a bit of malt that was pleasant. Smooth mild slightly thin mouthfeel with decent carbonation. Flavors opened up a bit as the beer warmed. Not too bad!

Good head production; decent retention, but very little lacing. Body is surprisingly light overall, close to a dark brown ale.

Nice roasty nose: toast, caramel, dark fruit, molasses, cola, cream, rye. Very nice overall.

Lively but smooth, with a nice body much fuller than the low ABV would suggest. A touch on the sweet side, with cream and brown sugar, in particular on the finish. Throughout, however, there's plenty of toasty notes, including caramel, banana, nuts, molasses, chocolate, cola, and earthy hops.

Sweeter than I prefer for a straight forward porter, this is a nonetheless very enjoyable beer that stops just shy of being cloying.

I'm trying this beer at my good friend and old neighbor house in the 'Wego. It poured a dark amber with off white head that is not leaving any lace. The scent roasted molasses. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with charred caramel malt and roast highlights. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall its a good beer.

From a beer of the month club. Has a garnet-red body with medium opacity and mild effervescence. A slight head of foam quickly settled down leaving a bit of lace behind. Scent is malty, with notes of darker breadiness and a touch of something sweet. Taste has prominent toffee and dark fruit notes (the summary says raisin/dates and that seems to match). Feel is a bit on the lighter side, with the effervescence peeking back through on the tongue with a well rounded, if slightly sweet aftertaste. A well rounded beer that you would not go wrong with enjoying.

Beer pours with a cola color, with about 1" off white head. Smell is coffee, malt, hops mostly. Taste is light coffee, chocolate, toffee, and mouthful slowly builds to the end and finishes with malt and hops. Nice feel, medium carbonation, and leaves a pleasant aftertaste.

From all counts, this indeed is a proper porter-- very enjoyable, not too heavy, and refreshing for a porter. Highly recommended.

12oz bottle. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, light brown head of foam. It smelled of chocolate, toffee and caramel. Sweet chocolate and toffee with very minimal bitterness.

L-Dark brown with light tan lacing

S-Malted milk balls, coffee,

T-Milk chocolate, roasted malts, a hint of mint. Hops are not a big player which is the way I like my porters.

F-Medium to light-medium bodied...creamy texture.

O-Well made porter a person could settle into the winter evening with and easily enjoy a few of.

12oz bottle, might have had a date on it, i couldnt care less

Proper Porter, aka "this is our porter and our marketing team decided that 'proper' was the best alliterative adjective to place in front of the afforementioned noun." Fulton specializes in uninspired swill, and this is par for the course. Some smoked oats. Some hop. Some alcohol to ease the pain of living in a never-ending nightmare.

Now I feel 'proper', whatever in Saturn's name that means

On tap at the brewery.

Off white head. Dark brown color. Nearing black.

Roasted malts. Toffee. Dry. Chocolate. Nutty. Caramel. Lots of malts. Lots of roast.

Very basic porter. Nothing to go crazy over.
