From the famous belly bottle an orange bell ipa scented to hay bacon, citrus and some pepper from the famous duck yeast especially refreshing but also caramel sweet, pretty good but also a little boring

"Not really a pale ale," the bottle says in a bit of expectations management. So. Poured into a tulip glass as a brass-colored with a thin trail of bubbles feeding a thing ring of white foam. Aromas of mint, bread, light toast, a light lavender something. The hop attack stabs in as a thin and flinty edge of bitterness with a bit of iron in it. Some apricot, banana and coriander behind that, and some citrus pitch lingers afterward. Not a lot to chew on, with some helpful cleansing from the effervescence but a bit of oil persists in the mouth. Not so much that it won't work for a quencher or an aggressive session starter.

Pours a nice golden body, but the head is pretty poor, what starts out soon disappears.

Aroma is strange, initial scent I citrus but it lasts only the first sniff, there after all you get are hops. Still pretty inviting.

Taste is on the sharp side, a touch bitter, malty bitter but seems to be lacking something in the flavour department for me. Seems a bit wishy washy.

Feel is ok, goes down easy enough but does leave a dry aftertaste which is bizarre given it's wishy washy taste.

Overall it's not too bad, not sure this is an IPA despite it's marketing. It is certainly a Belgian Blonde brewed with additional hops, and for note it is now brewed at 5.5% not 6% as originally logged.

Still if you see it, give it a whirl, similar to Leffe Cascade Royale, La Chouffe, but not as good as either.

Easy drinking, not very hoppy. Brilliant white head. Duvel is ready for a real IPA their style...

A: Golden orange and filtered with soda like carbonation and 2 fingers of light orange cream head.

S: Tropical fruits, pineapple, candied orange, papaya, and lemon.

T: Tropical fruits as on the nose, almost like Fruit Loops cereal. Pineapple, candied orange, lemon, mango, and papaya. Light bitterness on the finish, light sweetness throughout but overall relatively dry.

M: Medium body, light sweetness, dry finish with moderate foamy carbonation.

O: Pleasantly surprised by the tropical fruit notes in this Belgian IPA! Its not like others in the style, nor is it very strong, but pleasant. Found at a bar by Papa John’s in Kunming, drank March 21st 2015.

33 cl bottle poured into the Duvel tulip

Same brewery as Duvel so Moortgat. A good ipa, cheap and widely available here, but not the best Belgium produce.

This is my first ipa ever, so I can not really compare it with something.
It tastes really nice. I expected a really bitter taste, but it tastes really fruity. I bit bitter, but not too much.

Bottled
Pours a crisp clean golden body with massive foaming white head
Fizzy lemon vitamin supplement aroma
Get that vibe in the flavour plus a Belgian blonde slight sourness
Not a massive fan of Belgian style IPA and this isz very much that but quite p!peasant
