Presentation: Sampled at De Met in Halle (see BeerFly) on Easter Monday 28th April, 2005. Stubby Duvelian brown glass bottle with a black, red and white rather retro- looking label, as shown in the BA Avatar. Sampled from the correct Vedett glassware, which is a curved sided flute with an oval version of the main bottle label. Described as an Extra Blond and listed at 5.0%. Smudged Best Before Date but it finished in 06 so I guess I got a fresh-ish bottle!?!
Appearance: Pale straw colored body with the merest hint of a golden hue when held to the light. Nice looking bleached white head. Slaked foamy white lacing clings to the side of the curved glass and thanks to the geometric design, slides easily back down onto the surface of the brew to form a consistently thick looking ½ head at all times. Good levels of carbonation are boosted by many streamers.
Nose: Cut grass with fresh wheat tones and some meadow like freshness race out of the glass. Light in strength, but very inviting in character. Some grainy malts in the finish.
Taste: The tastes were almost a 180° reversal of the nose. Grainy malts break through at first; a delicate bitterness fills the middle whilst it finishes with some wheat, herbal tea and a light grain sweetness in the finish which all balances out extremely well.
Mouthfeel: Average body, Vedett lacks the usual watery feel of many Blonds; it retains a middle-of-the-road session feel.
Drinkability: An all round easy drinking brew, after a large meal earlier in Triangel in Halle, this brew was a perfect starter beer for the afternoon session. Slipped down easily, even on a full stomach.
Overall: Nothing earth shattering, and certainly not worth seeking out, but it is a tasty enough blond beer cum Euro lager that is a cut above many of its better known and more widely available Belgo-Macro counter-parts. It is a shame it is not more accessible; this is only the second time I have ever see this brew on 12 annual trips to Belgium. Worth trying if seen.

Mediocre at best. Very little flavor, medium body and average balance. Great refresher in the summer, you can drink a couple of these. Not worth the cult.

Belgian, always a good sign.
Looks amazing in the glass, I have created some kind of whirlpool. Duvel like fluffy head.
Slightly lemonny, banana peely taste, balanced with complex malt and flowery hops. I like it, but don't love it. The kind of beer usually I'd only want a glass of. Still, better than most, though less good than most from Belgium ; )

Straw like gold body, bubbly two finger head. Aroma is malt. Taste is light, refreshing and clean, hint of apple juice and sparkling water. Pleasantly low taste profile that doesn't try to be challenging. Watery feel in the mouth, not much lingering aftertaste but a pleasant well brewed lager

Clear golden color with a thin head.
Aroma with notes of malt juice, faint floral hops and honey.
Flavor with notes of malt juice, faint apple puree, crude grains, some noble hops and bread. Dry aftertaste with a mild bitterness.
Easy to drink Belgian Pale Ale with a mild floral bitterness and predominant malt and fruit sweetness. Lager substitute.

From Cervezas Belgas, Almuñecar. In Teku glass. Playing Avernum 5. Light, clean, very refreshing and grassy, with a bit of metal. Profile similar to a good industrial, bringing reminiscences to Alhambra 1925
