Poured from a 11.2 bottle into a Duvel tulip glass.

Appearance: Pours a very hazy golden orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. Big head that takes up most of the glass.

Smell: A spicy and juicy Belgian aroma with a big scent of zesty fruit and Belgian spice. Belgian yeast with a scent of clove, pepper, and funk. Big zesty scent of citrus hops with some orange, lemon zest, pineapple, grapefruit, and melon. Also some fruit hints of banana and white grapes. Herbal and floral hop hints as well. Some malt hints of straw and cracker. A pretty good aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a juicy and spicy Belgian IPA like taste with notes of citrus and spice. Belgian yeast with notes of peppers, clove, and funk. Big hop presence with citrus notes of lemon zest, orange, grapefruit, melon, and pineapple. Herbal and floral hops with some grass. Also some fruit notes of white grape and banana. Light malt notes of straw and cracker. A really good taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a medium to high level of carbonation. Very juicy and pretty smooth.

Overall: A really good twist on a great Belgian ale. The Equinox hop really brings some nice zesty citrus flavor.

330ml, same as ever squat bottle, made with Saaz, Styrian Golding, and dry-hopped with the Equinox varietal for 2015.

This beer pours a clear, pale golden yellow colour, with a near-teeming tower of puffy, loosely foamy, and fizzy off-white head, which leaves some decent sudsy, crowded island group lace around the glass as it slowly ebbs away.

It smells of sharp citrus notes - lemon, white grapefruit, and lime pith - prominent earthy and spicy yeast, grainy, and slightly bready pale malt, a strong stoney minerality, and further vegetal, leafy, and grassy hops. The taste is more of the same - mixed Florida citrus flesh and rind, a more sedate yeastiness, bready, doughy pale malt, an ascendent tropical fruitiness, a still heady chalkiness, and the continuation of those leafy, piney, and lightly perfumed hop stragglers.

The bubbles are quite tight and tingly in their thoroughly fizzy and frothy meanderings, the body a solid medium weight, and fairly smooth, despite the hoppy and yeasty interlopers milling about. It finishes off-dry, a lingering pale maltiness sending notice to all other wishful contenders.

Tripel Hop is a version of the style that almost seamlessly integrates the bitter, fruity hoppiness and the acrid, phenolic yeastiness of the two disparate base styles, and that makes me one happy doubting Thomas. And having a newly hopped (well, dry-hopped, at least) version of this every new year? Keep 'em coming, mes amis.

Best by 6/2017.

Pours a hazy yellow with a foamy off-white head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Foamy patches of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of citrus zest, grapefruit juice, earth, and Belgian yeast aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus zest, grapefruit juice, lemon juice, and Belgian yeast flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp and dry mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with some super intense citrus forward hop characteristics that are especially strong in the taste.

Serving type: bottle.

Duvel is best known for, among other things, its pale colour and fortress-like head - Tripel Hop 2015 does indeed have both of the qualities and looks, let's be honest, no different from the original. The same cloudiness, similar effervescence, and likewise durable/sticky foam surely indicates a level of quality and bold character identical to the standard recipe.

Though I've tried them in a few different beers, truth be told, I'm not all that familiar with Equinox hops. Or perhaps it's that they've failed to ever make a particularly memorable impression. This bouquet doesn't excite in the same way 2014's Mosaic Tripel Hop did. Apparently that vegetal, green pepper-like note I smell is a common characteristic of this variety - it's not my favourite quality, I'll admit.

The palate, however, does lean a lot more tropical and showcases much more desirable papaya and melon flavours. The herbal and vegetable notes don't disappear entirely but are easy to overlook given the presence of such a juicy, ripe fruitiness. Those put-off by bitterness need not worry - hoppiness is, by and large, in flavour only and lingers without any bite whatsoever.

Drinking Tripel Hop 2015, like 2014 albeit to a lesser extent, is like taking a walk through a botanical garden. The aftertaste is chock-full of flower blossom, grass clippings and fresh herb notes (more the contributions of the base Saaz and Styrian Golding hops than our headliner Equinox). It is these ambrosial, almost therapeutic qualities that make me buy Duvel Tripel Hop year after year...

Duvel is a good beer to experiment with different hop varieties; its pale malt base does little to interfere with the dry-hoping. I think Equinox is a bit of a step-down from last year's Mosaic recipe but it shares enough of the same characteristics that I enjoyed it almost as much. Regardless of my opinion, Duvel is a top-notch producer and limited release renditions of such a classic are must-try.

I recently received some tasters of this while in NYC @ Coopers. First off, the beer looked great...nice and transparent, yellow hue, little head. Secondly, the smell was pleasant with a lightly hoped aroma of floral and fresh hay. Lastly, the taste and mouth feel were a disappointment..taste was dull maltyness, with little hops on the front or back end of the tongue. The mouth feel was thin and watery...I just wasn't happy with the way it tasted and felt..especially since I was expecting more after looking and smelling it.

Look is a Bright, almost brilliant golden hue. Smell is of hops and Belgian yeast. Taste is phenomenal. Big Belgian ale with a great amount of hops and it's so damn clean and crisp. Bravo.

Clear yellow colour. Citrus hops, clean, crisp, smells more like a dry-hopped west coast ipa. Grapefruit, citrus hops, slightly sweet malts... what west-coast ipas should taste like.

The Belgians can make a west-coast ipa better than America's west coast.

Hazy pale color with white, frothy head. Fresh, lemongrass aroma. Hoppy, herbal, grassy and citric. Taste follows, fresh and hoppy, a bit estery and alcoholic. Body is medium and has high carbonation, also kind of acidic. Pretty nice one overall.

Creamy fruity look...inviting on a summers day and even on a winter one.

Really strong apricotty and peach aroma...and passion fruit.

For me this is a considerable improvement on traditional Duvel. Wow, I really love this...

The sweetness and bitterness really balance amazingly in this. Totally perfect.

BBD of 01 2017 if you're buying that, not so sure myself...

Pours an effervescent straw color & a thumb of eggshell colored head. Dissapointing carbonation & head retention

S: Grassyness & a little pear, grapefruit as this warms

T: Grassyness, pears, white grapes & grapefruit pith up front, some lemon as well. Pears, grapefruit & dryness are all there as this warms, grassy hops as well. Finishes with a touch of orange peel, white grape, grapefruit & slight cattyness & slight booze presence

MF: Medium body, firm carbonation, good balance

Drinks, easy, not quite Belgian or American enough to totally wow me, but almost does; well worth trying. Really got better closer to room temperature

Look: bright light color, tick and creamny foam on the top that disolves fast
Aroma: The hops are dominant in the aroma, with tropical fruits and spices
Taste: Citrus and hops are dominant in the taste, , it have a bitter finish in the taste.the yeast make this a taste that last a little while after the first taste.
Feel:Highly carbonated , light to medium bodied, is easy to feel the high alchol contest but is easily drinkable
Overall: A good beer from Duvel, with a exiting taste, i enjoyed it a lot, but it does not get all the way to the top compared to other belgian beers
