Maredsous 10 pours an interesting looking red tinged amber. It appears to be lighter amber around the edges with the reddish hue only in the center. The head is nice and frothy with great staying power and equally great lacing.

The aroma is surprisingly muted. The first thing that hit my nose was a bit of hot, vinous character. The following sniffs yielded plenty of apple, grape and pear aromas, as well as a bit of spicy Belgian yeast.

The flavor was a bit more tripel like, but it still had that interesting wine like character from the aroma. Plenty of apple and pear notes, fresh fruitiness, spicy clove and a bit of funky earthiness were all present. This is one of the more boozy tripels that I have had to date.

The mouthfeel is medium with a pretty high amount of carbonation. The lively bubbles make the flavors bounce around my palate and feel sharp on my tongue. I really could have done without so much CO2, but I suppose it’s not out of step for the style. The finish is fairly dry and sharp with a definite spice flavor left in my mouth.

This is a pretty interesting beer and I am a bit torn about how to rate it. On one hand, it seems quite hot and I am not a huge fan of the flavors. On the other hand, it is very unique and I find the wine like character to be quite interesting. Also, it is packed with flavor and quite invigorating to drink. I guess I would just have to say that if you are looking for a tripel that has something a bit different to offer, you might go for one of these.

Popped off the top and it foamed up like a homebrew, good sign. Smells yeasty and slightly spicy, with hints of anise, but not real malty. Very much like a boiling wort or even raw bread dough. Pours into a chalice with a creamy head on top of a cloudy dark golden color. Taste is slightly bitter, consistent throughout with spicy warming sensation that travels from the middle to the finish. Mouthfeel has zest but there is not any over-carbonation. This beer starts as middle of the road but finishes nicely. The AC is evident in warmth but not so much in taste. Not a great Belgian but decent.

Clear orange and golden. Thin white head. Some lacing.

Muted aromas, though there is some alcohol heat immediately in the aroma, and as it warms it becomes relatively sweet, with some candied apples and pear aromas.

Sweet and bready malts with definite alcohol harshness--not really something I'm enjoying. I don't want to grade it too harshly for it's alcohol bite because the beer sits at 10%, but it's definitely present, distracting, and dominant. Some sweet and fruity flavors if I search for them, but I'm not particularly enjoying this, and won't finish my glass. Other tripels at similar alcohol volumes don't taste nearly this harsh and boozy. On to the next one...

Medium bodied, alcohol bite. Not a pleasure to drink and I didn't even think of finishing my glass.

An average tripel with too much alcohol harshness. Not something I'll order again.

A-an orange brown hue with some foamy white head that disappears quickly to leave just a bit of covering around the top

S-sweet and fruity, malty, and boozy

T-sweet and malty, but has an underlying harsh bitterness to it. I agree with some of the other reviews that this beer might be best with food.

M-medium body and carbonation with some alcohol warming

D-very easy to drink even with the 10 ABV, the bitterness threw me for a bit and is a bit much at times. Not as good as other triples I've had

A: Hazy orange-tan with a full head and plenty of linger.

S: Lemon, alcohol, flowers.

T: Notable spices and roses throughout, bit of lemon and light hops with a semi-dry finish.

M: Medium body with a ton of carbonation that worked smoothly

Excellent beet, top notch all seasons of the year. At this price though I wouldn't drink it too often.

-big floral and caramel notes upfront
-spicy coriander
-faint lemon
-slightly alcoholic and fairly hoppy finish
Very good.
Flavour profile reminded me a lot of the Westmalle Tripel
