Serving type: 330 ml bottle. The “Best before” date on the back label is “03 2014.”

Appearance: Poured into a tulip. The color is honey with amber and ruby tones. Lots o’ head on this one: after three fingers formed I needed to stop pouring for a minute. The head was eggshell-colored, fairly light, and dissipated to leave a rocky lacing and trails along the sides. A couple swirls builds a buttery, half-finger cap that lingers for a while.

Smell: Tons of yeast, spice, and sweet fruit. The aroma is very potent. Coriander, clove, pepper, granny apple, orange, lemon, green grapes, yeast, and caramel.

Taste: Mostly mirrors the smell, but the spices and citrus zest are most prominent. Coriander, clove, pepper, orange, lemon, and green grapes. The yeast is present and so is a little caramel. Overall, though, it is nice and spicy.

Drinkability: It is a solid brew. I really have nothing else to say.

served from a bottle into a glass.

a. half a finger of head with a bit of lacing. clear grainy color, of course, a tid bit darker than a single tripel.

s. smells sweet of fruit, almost like a hard cider. also a hint of grains in there as well.

t. very sweet and tangs of bitterness on the tongue. some malt. citrus notes rifle up the nostrils as well. lots of apple in this one.

m. quite fizzy, perhaps the fermentation has allowed for more carbonation.

o. i am not much of a connoisseur of tripels, this only makes a few, so i am still learning. i do not believe many belgian beers will break into my top favorites, this certainly has not, but i am excited to continue the exploration. it is a beer worthy of consumption even if this particular brew is not your taste.

Pours out into my goblet an cloudy orange color with plenty of carbonation bubbles swimming to the top. The head is massive!!! I mean this thing looks like it is alive. Pours up to four fingers high (if not higher). Two fingers high just over the glass with out a single drip down the sides of the glass. Off white and fluffy. The retention is almost perfect, leaving rings and lace all around the goblet.

The aroma is dense with an almost white wine aroma. Light, and has some good citrus notes. Orange peel, coriander, bread, and alcohol. I even get a hint of diacetyl. Not as clean as I expected though.

The flavor has a sweet and sour flavor. Orange peel, white grape, and alcoholic sweetness hits the tongue at first. These flavors play a tug a war with the malt and yeast. Giving off a fresh baked bread taste. At the end there is a grassy hop that lingers on the tongue.

The body is medium, kind of slick on the tongue. The finish is not as clean and crisp as I would expect from the style.

Over all this triple is certainly worth a try. I am glad I tried it but this tripel seems a little over done.

Fluffy finger of shite head, golden body. Layers of lace like rings on a tree or layers of rock on a tectonic rift.

Nose is a knockout. Tons of yeast, fruit, everything you want in a tripel and more. Rich caramel.

Taste doesn't let the nose down. Tart, sweet but not cloying, magnificent. Some grape, grapefruit. A touch boozy. Aftertaste melts into a clean finish.

Mouthfeel is ultra-smooth--thick, but not 'carbonated' feeling.

I'll stand by my initial impression. One of the best tripels on draft, not nearly as good in a bottle.

Why have I not reviewed this before? Guess it has slipped my mind! Time to throw this in a tulip and be on with it! Best before March 2014.

An off white foamy head, not so much uniform but has a little bit of creamy top to it. Body color is a little opaque, but it had a nice light red/orange glow to it, with real nice hinting hues around the edges. Not much visible carbonation, but lots of clumpy hanging lacing. Real nice.

Nose is mild very mild vinegar. But more so a big perfume like floral sense. Hints of spice, but also gives of a bit of a soapy smelling quality. I find this neat, but it could be off putting to others. Some grape quality sweetness just hiding also.

Taste is a nice malty action, with a good thick body. Not much sense of carbonation on this. Palate brings a rounded sugar sweetness complimenting the floral angle nicely. Rich, somewhat bold. One to grasp your head around easily.

Overall it's a great beer, maybe not my favorite in the style, but delicious in its own right. Lovely and I now remember why I enjoy it on occasion.
