Poured from a mini-growler into a Gulden Draak tulip. Pours a light to medium golden amber with a half finger white head that dissipates to patches with slight lacing. Aroma of grainy malt, Belgian yeast, apple and pear juice, light clove. Flavor is grainy malt, reminiscent of a saison malt, Belgian yeast, apple, hints of light stone fruit, light lemon and clove. Finishes with a spicy bitterness, lingering clove and citrus zest. Medium bodied with light creaminess and sharp carbonation. A classic tasting Belgian pale ale that does taste a lot like a somewhat toned down Duvel, and that made me pine for a full bore Duvel. The malt has more grain character than I remember for its bigger sibling, and that keeps it interesting even with a somewhat subdued flavor profile. A fine pale ale from a great Belgian brewery. I was glad to find this on tap, as it is apparently not bottled.

A sessionable Duvel ! (Because the original is one and done for us old guys who can't handle the alcohol.)
And given Moortgat's marketing skill, I'd have thought they'd have made the session beer more popular than it seems.

It also is a high-quality beer; albeit not world-class.
Looks plenty foamy out of the tap at Howells & Hood. Smells of grain and fruit, mostly from its yeast. Tastes are balanced. I only get a slight bitterness and it does not linger. Crisp and carbonated, I bet this Feel cleans the palate for more food.

This I should Have again... next time with food.

this beer is dynamite, every bit as good as the original, but in a drink all day size, its just right. super pale almost clear in color, just on the edge of sunny yellow, with a lasting nearly full inch of white head and rapid carbonation, looks summery and crushable. a nice floral yeast nose to this, grassy hops, like a sized down version of the original, the real difference seems to be in the grain complexion, this is just so much lighter, and trades out the fluffy richness of the original for a lighter, drier, crushably minimal body. the yeast is great, such a classic belgian profile to it, patient, not too hot, no bubblegum or taffy, its more refined than that, and the little bit of hops in the finish are very complimentary to it. awesome carbonation whooshes around the mouth, dry and fruity at the same time in the finish then, an absolute pounder, and so well made that i almost feel bad for thinking of it in that context, but i would seriously play beer pong with this beer. i expected nothing less, but i was still real impressed with this little duvel!

Poured from tap into sniffer, minimal head and lacing. Crystal clear light golden in the glass. Smells of biscuit malt, slight floral. Taste is fruity Belgian esters, some malt sweetness and some lemon. Finish is spicy crisp.

Had this on tap at 3 Kings Public House in Des Peres, MO. Poured into tulip, a bright clear golden with a thin white head. Wonderful Belgian smell, with similar taste and mild clove, Light to medium feel. Can't wait to try the full strength Duvel!

I enjoyed two of these babies while watching some European Championship at Bier International NYC.
Pours a crystal clear golden straw and beige like color with a big bubble head that dissipates 3/4 of the way into the drink. the ring like lace retains.
Interesting bouquet of aromas; melon, floral, perfume and biscuit.
In the mouth it is medium bodied yet light on its feet. The soft carbonation is just about right. The taste is sweet and fruity, like white grape, yet finishes dry, like white wine, leaving you yearning for another sip. Lightly spicy and with an interesting grapefruit aftertaste.
I thought it was very quaffable. If Duvel is Budweiser, this one is Bud Light; obviously both are better. Indeed, this had all the fine qualities of Duvel, but lighter and session able.

Belgian Pale Ale? Maybe, but tastes a lot like a funky kolsch or Lager to me. Regardless of what you call it, expect a high attenuation for the most part, delivering a crisp and tight mouthfeel. Clean lager flavors mesh with a momentary flash of green apple that eventually drys out. This is unique while also being more easily crushable than regular Duvel. Lighter, crisp and fruity alternative.
