Duvel poured into duvel glass, go figure

Crystal clear, huge fluffy pillow for a head that settles to a rocky centimeter, leaving plenty of lacing behind.

Apple peel. Candied orange. Very fruity in general to begin with. As the beer warms I get notes of gingerbread, toffee and straw.

The apple is again prominent, but both sweet and sour apple notes. This beer is extremely balanced, with a tangy dry finish. Long after I've swallowed I can taste sweet biscuits.

Delicious beer. Must try. It's beers like this that make Belgium famous for beer.

look: 4.5 | smell: 4 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.5

Appearance - Pours a very pale golden yellow (like a ginger ale) with a dense, creamy head (white in colour), leaving a nice lacing on the glass. Has nice clarity with bubbles present.

Smell - Citrus fruits (predominantly lemon and lime), tropical fruits (passionfruit, mango), very slight hint of vanilla.

Taste - Bready, biscuity flavour from the malts. Slight hint of fruitiness (as from the aromas). Very light bitterness in the aftertaste. Alcohol is moderately detected.

Mouthfeel - Very sharp tingle from the carbonation. Medium bodied with a light fluffiness to it.

Overall - A good representation of the Belgian Strong Pale Ale style. Very refreshing, especially on a hot summer's day. The appearance is unlike any other beer I have tried. Very enjoyable.
