Had this on tap over at the Big E in West Springfield. The beer had a nice, clear, amber-orange appearance with visible carbonation and a thin white head. Aromas were a bit faint, but I could smell pumpkin spice herb wrapped around malts. Taste followed the nose with a nice bittersweet bread-malt balance with just a hint of pumpkin spice. The mouthfeel was great; really clean and refreshing. Overall, I thought the beer was not bad, especially in terms of its mouthfeel and appearance.

On-tap 10/17/2015 at Natty Greene’s Tavern, in North Attleboro, MA, served in a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep gold color, with a thin off-white head that fades quickly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains pumpkin, spices, caramelize malts and a touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out with strong flavors of pumpkin, ginger and cinnamon. Then a hearty but not too heavy malt character comes in. The hops presence is mild and brings some balance. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: A little tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, mild kick, good representation of style, this is a solid beer to drink for a while if you’re in the mood for the style.

Canned on 9/12/18

Pours a clear, deep golden straw with a finger of off-white head; good retention and consistent presence of lacing after the head recedes.

Aromas of light seasonal spice (maybe cinnamon and nutmeg) with a sturdy backbone of subtle but recognizable pumpkin, at times feeling like it has some roasty qualities to it; a bit of malty sweetness sneaks in toward the end to round out a simple, but pretty enjoyable bouquet.

Taste brings an enhanced malt profile to balance the spice and subtle gourd tones carrying over from the aroma, which while incredibly soft, are undeniably clean and avoid becoming cloying; some grain and grassy tones come in and mesh with the spice nicely, adding further balance to the subtleties of the profile.

Mouthfeel is light-bodied with medium carbonation and a crisp dryness that only adds to the profile, and gives it a bit of a ‘snap’ on the finish.

While very understated, the flavor is present and, most importantly to me, gives impressions of real pumpkin and a relaxed, natural spice while still feeling like a beer; it’s not a cloying palate-wrecker and stays consistently refreshing, as well; as far as pumpkin ales go, this is a really nice one.

Light fizzy head, semi clear nectar sunny orange color.

Nose brings plenty of pumpkin, fresh and baked pumpkin, light spices, hint of pie but barely, light malty aroma, sweet malt.

Taste brings more pumpkin, fresh and baked pie, little tangy tart pumpkin, light feeling compared to most pumpkin beers, little toasted gourd. Mild spices, allspice, clove, perhaps a bit of nutmeg and cinnamon, hard to tell, little ginger perhaps even. Hint bready toasted malt, lighter malts, no a big sweet caramel bomb thankfully. Finish dry, hint of bitterness, little pumpkin, mild vegetal note with mild spices.

Mouth is med bod, nice small bubble popping carb.

Overall pretty nice, everything is mild, pumpkin still comes through nicely, little spices but thankfully not syrupy sweet caramel thing.

16-oz. can canned on 9/4/18 needed a strong pour into a 20-oz. mug to get a skinny finger sized fizzy off white head with very short retention and spotty lacing.
Yellow golden color, translucent with haze and small rising bubbles. Appears yellow in front of light.
Smell starts off with bready malt, baking spice and faint bitter hops takes over.
Rich semi-sweet malt and cooked pumpkin begin the taste as the spice, which is now noticeable as nutmeg and allspice , dominates the middle. The finish is on the bitter side as the spices give way to citrusy and spicy hops.
Medium body with considerable carbonation despite the short lived head, the finish is dry with a spicy after taste that lingers for a minute.
Pumpkin flavor is fresh and up front while the spice is balanced by the hops, the smell/taste profile is also balanced well between semi sweet and bitter.

Wormtown never disappoints. This is one of the lower abv (4.5%, not 4.3%) pumpkin ales while still having a medium body. Took home a 6-pack.

Light, drinkable, fantastic. A pumpkin beer you can have a few of since it's missing the overly sweet, vanilla flavor slammed into so many others. Really well done.
