Look: Crystal clear yellow gold with a thick white head. Moderate activity.

Smell: Pungent pine hops. Light floral notes. A hint of alcohol. All hops.

Taste: Big hop attack with notes of pine and bitter floral. Light citrus fades into a body of fresh cereal grains.

Feel: Medium body. Medium plus bitterness. Mild alcohol. Good carbonation. Dry finish.

Overall: A good if standard west coast style ipa. The hoppy bitterness is welcome after so many juicy New England style IPAs. Yet, it's all pretty par for the course. Also the alcohol is too present for a 6.5% beer. Average.

On tap at Tap City Grille in Hyannis. Pours a golden effervescent hue with minimal frothing. Assertive aroma replete with hints of citrus and grapefruit. Similar overall flavor profile.

Pours a softly hazy, almost hefeweizen-like golden blonde. Small head settles down into a thin, laced cap. Very solid.

Aroma leaps out of the glass as soon as the can is cracked. A flash of green hop resin quickly disappears into a deep, funky papaya reek, with noes of under-ripe mango, jasmine, and rambutan. Lovely, tropical, floral. An instant trip to the tropics. You can see how New England brewing got from Harpoon IPA (clearly an inspiration/progenitor) to here.

Taste is more muted than the nose, focusing more on mango and the sweet, mellow flavor of tinned peaches in syrup. A little alcohol flashes through as the beer gets aerated. It is not obnoxious, but the alcohol becomes more prominent as it warms. A little mangosteen in there too, perhaps? This is a lush, smooooooooth, pillow-soft brew. Not getting the citrus advertised on the can, but who needs it? Nice hop burps too, as I drain the glass.

Mouthfeel is slightly softer than it could be, but still nice. Drinkability is hurt a little by the beer's mellow carbonation and alcohol content.

Overall, this is a very nice, very cool beer! A nice stylistic break from the West Coast IPAs I am used to. Would love to see what these folks could do with a session IPA. Once is enough for me, but a good purchase! Recommended.
