On tap at Beatniks. This one of porter was aged on nutmeg for 3-4 weeks in old wintah brown barrels.
A - Poured into a standard pint glass a dark oily brownish black hue with thin mocha head that fades to leave a thin blanket.
S - Aromas of faint nutmeg and chocolate with...that's pretty much it.
T - More nice nutmeg with this. There is a very uniqueness here. This was aged on nutmeg for 3-4the weeks in the barrels used to make wintah brown. The wintah comes through on the end. Starts with nutmeg and chocolate ends with a sharp almost acidic wintah notes of malts, Carmel, and nutmeg again.
M - Mouthfeel is a bit thin for a porter. Drinkable and good but you lose a bit of the good chocolate notes that made pro-am so good.
O - Overall I enjoyed this porter but not nearly as much as I did the original. The original had so much going for it but this kinda masks it with the nutmeg and wintah brown influence. Still...a tasty porter.
