Awful. What is this?
A fusion summerpils?
9.1% Oated imperial Pilsner.
Look. No head. Looks like a regular Dunkin with cream and sugar. Ugly as sin. Seriously. Like I made a cup of tea, added milk, poured it in a glass. Ugliest beer I’ve ever come across.
Smell. Nothing. I mean, maybe something, but really, nothing.
Taste. Absolutely foul. I mean come on. An oated imperial Pilsner. Essentially it’s a oils that probably didn’t work out well so they’ve decided to add oats for some nonsense reason and boost the abv to 9%. Seriously awful.
I can’t even remember what’s left, I’ve drank 4oz and feel a bit ill. Mouthfeel? Like when you mix orange with milk. Without any flavor.
I’m staggered. I’ve never come across anything like this and am shocked that the brewer, when he poured a pint for himself though, yup, nailed it.
Not just a dreadful beer, but one of the worst liquids you could put in your facehole

2014 bottle. Mahogany in color. Fairly clear in appearance. There has a weird medicinal taste. Something akin to fernet branca with mint or star aniss.

A - Wonderful packaging presentation by the Element team. Suggesting serving temps are in F, C and Kelvins. Pours a dark orange, slightly hazy, massive white/off-white head. Tight head that reduces quickly but never leaves entirely. Low level of lacing on the sides.
S - Light malt sweetness, spicy noble hops. Crisp clean aroma.
T - Complex. Clean, crisp, Pilsner around the edges surrounding a sweet meal middle. The oatmeal adds adds this all together. I would consider this to be the fusion. A little bit of the hops lingers.
M - Most notable is the smooth, slick character. Medium dryness, high carbonation.
O - An excellent, unique beer. Perfect as a summer alternative when you want a sipper, but don't want anything too heavy.

The beer pours a white, bubbly, and frothy head that takes a while to dissipate and leaves quite a bit of very nice lacing on the walls of the glass. The beer itself is a clear brown with orange notes. The beer is also a little bit hazy but that's most likely due to the temperature difference between the beer and the glass. The smell has strong honey and graham cracker notes mixed with a bit of light oatmeal. The hops are a little bit buried beneath the other notes but provide a nice base with its bitter and grassy notes. The taste is a bit stronger with the hop notes and the oatmeal as well as the sweeter honey and oat notes are weaker. However, the mix is much better than in the smell because it's no longer so sweet. Additionally, there is a slight alcohol taste that is very faint and barely noticeable. The mouthfeel is medium bodied but on the thicker side and very light on the carbonation despite the good head retention. Overall, a very good beer that is worth getting if you haven't done so. Despite the odd pairing, the combination actually works very well in how one note offsets the other and prevents it from becoming too overwhelming.

Cask pour at ACBF
A-Pours a cloudy golden color. Head from the pour fills the rest of my sample cup.
S- Upon first sniff, I am disappointed. It's very, very tame. I get hints of grass, honey and crackers.
T-Flavor brings more to the table. The grassiness of the hops is turned up. Sweet honey with some sweet cracker and grains.
M-Medium bodied. Flat and perhaps a bit too warm. Soft bitterness.
O-Wasn't bad but it failed to stand out against all the other beers I tried during my stay at ACBF.

Fresh 2014 batch, just released. Bottle 872.
A: Pours a lightly hazy amber. Lots of very fine carbonation. Tall and frothy/fizzy tan head. Good head retention with a nice slow fade. Almost no lacing at all.
S: Lots of grass and light apple cider. Light fruity alcohol.
T: Taste is a lot stronger than the aroma. Big, big grassy notes up front. Light floral notes, lavender-like at times. Grainy oatmeal and that sharp, crisp pilsner malt backing it all up in the middle and finish. A bit of sulphur from that pilsner malt in fact. Light bitterness in the finish with more grass and some of that dry apple cider flavor kicking around.
M: Medium-heavy, sharp and crisp.
O: Basically a super pilsner. Very strong pilsner malt and grassy hops plus the grainy oatmeal for complexity. Decent bitterness for a pilsner too, but of course this not an IPA or something. Bright and sharp, tasty but I think I'm more of a fan of the lighter, more sessionable pilsners.
