pours a black body with slight off white head
a good looking beer, best point
charcoal is the biggest hit o n the aroma

nice hint of liquorice on the taste and then fades to a slight sourness

very thin mouthfeel but okay carbonation
I've had worse but I have had far better dark beers.

A 500ml bottle with a BB of Dec 2012. Picked up from Tesco some time back.

Poured into a straight pint glass. A dark brown colour with reddish hints. Forms a large head of creamy beige foam with decent retention; this slowly reduces to a surface layer. Aroma of sweet, dark malt with hints of caramel, nuttiness, mild roasted grain, faint chocolate and earthy yeast. Subtle.

Tastes of dark malt with a mild finish. Notes of caramel, grain, a hint of chocolate and earthy yeast. Slightly sweet; no hop character to speak of. Dry and virtually without bitterness. Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with pleasant carbonation but a thin, insubstantial body. Aftertaste of caramel malt and grain.

A pretty average dark lager. Looks OK, but the aroma and flavour are muted and uninspiring. Body could be a bit thicker/creamier. Made for easy, unchallenging drinking - not terrible but lacks depth. No need to seek it out.

Best By date Feb. 3, 2012. 1L can.

Appearance: Dark brown color with a slight reddish cast, almost completely blocking any light. One finger of dense tan colored head with good retention. Left rings of lacing.

Smell: Slightly sweet aroma from malt. Also ripe fruit and yeast.

Taste: Sweet malt, with plenty of roasted flavor. No discernable hops flavors.

Mouthfeel: Meduim-bodied and chewy. Low carbonation. Roasted malt finish.

Overall: Quite drinkable, but one 1L can is enough for me at one sitting.

A good dark lager. Quite dark in color, lots of carbonation. It's a tasty beer, if not a bit strong. I liked it, but not all will. If you're not a huge fan of dark beers, I'd still give it a try but know that it might be a bit overpowering.

Brown 500ml bottle, best before Dec 2011, drank and reviewed mid July 2011.

Deep rustic brown body with a cream coloured head which gave off loads of lacing on the vase shaped glass it sat in.

The smell was of sweet malty molasses, but not overly so, or sickly.

Initially I thought 'what a cracking flavour of maltiness', but sadly the brew soon turned into a boring malty tasting fizzy beverage I didn't like so much.

The body was weak in depth, even for a lager/pilsner based beer: almost watery in fact, even though it was highly carbonated.

Not very impressed.

500ml bottle. Footed Pokal glass. Pure black color, very dark brown to the light. Tan foam, close & fairly good retention crown. Aroma profile displays roasted & burnt malts, sweet notes & hints of black cocoa. Dried upfront & slight bitter flavor from roastiness. Light body. Moderate carbonation. Creamy to watery texture. Very low floral bitterness in the middle. Dry bitter finish & roasted aftertaste. Its easy drinkability makes it a flavorful session beer.

1 litre can poured into a pint glass.

Black in color with a very dark brown tinge, thick creamy tan head builds up with good retention before gradually subsiding to everlasting thin foamy layer atop along with lots of ring and patch of lacing.

Full of malty character; dark bread, caramel, toffee, slight buttery, and roasted reminded of black coffee. Hop with a hint of citrus. Overall, quite clean aroma.

Taste of Munich malt that is very bready and a bit sweet, roasted malt with a black coffee flavor and slight astringency. Hop with a slight citrus and moderate bitterness at the end.

Light to medium body with semi-smooth mouthfeel through a soft wave of effervescence and medium carbonation, finish is semi-dry and quite clean.

Decent Schwarz with a pretty good quaffing quality, there is nothing special or worth to remark but at least it is worth a try.

Picked up at a local grocery store in Shanghai China. Drank from the 500mL can.

S: Has a nice deep malty smell to it with some caramel in there but also hints of smoke. Faint sweetness at the end.

T: Good malty character. Really surprised by this beer. Some milk chocolate in there, and some dark bread. A bit of smoke and roasted malt in the middle, and then a bit more sweetness.

Feel: Pretty smooth and not flat.

Good all around beer for this area. I'm actually really impressed. I will be picking this up again for sure.

From Alcampo. In Bavaria glass. After dinner. Watery, with roasted-metallic notes that at first displeased me but in the long run I got used to and even enjoyed. Very foamy, requiring 2 pours, but with a pretty foam

Dark brown color with an abundant off-white head with medium retention and leaving laces.
Aroma of roasted and crude malts, nuts, wheat and grassy hops with notes of dark chocolates.
Similarly, flavor of roasted malts also with dark chocolate and an above average amount of hops for the style, though shadowed by its malt type.
Aftertaste is dry with a medium bitterness.
Medium body and carbonation.
Interesting that some beers grow on you, this one starts at a higher note and then down the slope. Still a fair example of the style.
