Notes: There’s a little bit of summer in every pint of this smooth, easy-drinking and hoppy Blonde Ale. A strong hop bouquet and a very present, but soft and balanced bitterness counterpoints the subtle malt profile in this year-round crowd pleaser. Released in 16 oz cans, starting Winter 2011/12.

UnDun Blonde Ale pours an inviting enough golden to very light shade of orange. Capped by a creamy and fittingly cream colored foam that stubbornly sits above, but eventually gives in to gravity, but not without leaving its mark from head to toe.

Pretty unique and rustic aromas come off the surface. Wild flower honey, and an abandoned dusty old barn. A blade of grass or two puts an end to the brief profile.

Even the flavor tastes "old". Broom swept floor dusty and dirtiness come through. A sweet and completely fermented honey taste takes a back seat. Stale biscuits, woody and dried grassy hops with a pinch of white pepper spice finished it off.

There's a malty sweet heft to this initially, but an earthy and spicy finish keeps things even. It crisp enough for a blonde ale, with a lifting medium carbonation. Very easy to draw sip after sip.

"Traditional" and "Colonial" are used to describe the beer per the can. I could get on board with that. It has a dirty, rustic feel to it all around. It actually tastes like it would be a historical beer. Wether that's a good thing or not, I kind of like it. It grew on me. Cheers.

16 oz can from "Lifesource" ,Salem. $2.49 Golden slightly hazy body, large thick ,frothy white head. Aroma very slight and of bread, and slightly floral hop. Smooth semi sweet, cream soda, flavor with a slightly astringent hop bitterness right and the end and well into the after taste.Strange but not disturbing. Mouthfeel is cool..smooth and silky over the tongue. Odd beer not a favourite but not bad.

I am CANfounded by this one! I know that msubulldog25 sent me some CANs as I passed one onto my local, in-person trader, tone77 but I scored this CAN at the Friendly Greek a few days ago. Did a review disappear into the ether? Has The CANQuest (TM) finally addled my mind to the point that I CANnot keep track? I dunno, but it is just a wee tad disCANcerting!

From the CAN: "Pint In A C[AN]"; "na-tian [ney-sheh n] - Noun 1. We Brew Beer. That's About As Definitive As It Needs To Get".

The Crack on this one unleashed a spritz of foam that was going to require a moment or two to settle before the Glug could commence. Man, but this is one foamy masterpiece! I had to abort an inverted Glug as I was getting a massive head with no let-up in sight. Two-plus dense, rocky fingers of bone-white head later and I was forced to take a break and allow things to settle before proceeding. It looked like a detergent overload in a washing machine from a sitcom. Color was a cloudy sunshine yellow, which seems like a CANtradiction in terms, ala Val MidWest's getting cited for Public Nudity while Trespassing on Private Property. Why are some laws on the books? When I am Mayor, Public Nudity will be encouraged, not discouraged! Nose had a grassy quality to it, perhaps from Noble hops along with a yeasty mustiness. In looking at the style descriptor on this site, it CAN be "lager-like" and that is definitely the case here. Mouthfeel was medium and I got an unexpected pronounced grapefruit taste on the tongue! This will make an excellent segue into New CANned (Mostly) IPA Sunday, which is what is on the menu in addition to PGA from Merion on TV today. This Blonde was spicy, just the way I like 'em. Finish was actually pretty dry, between the hops and the yeast. A nice kick-start to the day. Excellent lacing throughout.

A very nice beer from a small brewery in Portland

Foams a bit from punching the tab, poured into glass.

Smooth golden yellow body, somewhat hazy. Very nice head. This beer looks great. Rocky, white foam, great lacing.

Aroma is a touch sharp with spice and hops, light cracker underneath. Grapefruit rind.

Flavor picks up these characteristics and runs a bit further. Although the citrus/grapefruit softens. More spicy, and fresh cut green grass.

A smooth feel to it. This isn't bad, however a bit more carbo would sharpen it...I think. Still, it's dry and delish

A 10 oz. pour from a recently-tapped keg, Bailey's Taproom. A mid-50's, mid-June afternoon, overcast and rainy at times - perfect for a summery blonde ale, right?

A: Golden/wheat, a modest haze and plenty of streaming carbonation. Head is a not-quite-covering lid of dimpled film and rim-clinging cream. Nice-looking lace, a draped and tightly-knit webbing.

S: Mild breadiness, a grassiness that seems a little briny ('Saltine' cracker?). Light and vague: more subtle, perhaps, than my nose is atuned to... A little musky as it warms.

T: Bittersweet doughy grains chased by brighter hops. A good, pithy lemon peel veiled over crusty-dry malt. A flavor surprise with a finish that's a bit jarringly bitter and zesty compared to other blonde ales I've tasted.

M: Reasonably crisp upfront, light-bodied with a lagging bitterness. A 'bite' with each sip, not so much from carbonation as from latent hop afterlife. Coating, grainy texture to finish.

D: Easy to drink, a solid and refreshing 'summer' choice. It's a tough style to get overly-excited about, but this is executed well enough that I'd order it again. Worth a try, without a doubt.

A decent blonde ale. There is some mild hop influence that carries an earthy tone also. Fairly thick malt sweetness. Full body on this with a frothy carbonation, to a degree. Not too bad really. Blonde ales are usually pretty boring, but this one isn't all too bad.

from a 16 ounce can

Pours as slightly hazy golden with an inch of white head, decent retention.

Smells of mild citrus and some light bready malt.

Tastes of biscuity malts with some citrus tartness and a hint of hop bitterness.

Medium to light body with a soft carbonation.

A pretty decent lighter refreshing ale, good flavor, and very enjoyable. Wouldn't turn it down.

Poured from 16oz tall can into a pint glass.

Appearance: despite resting for several weeks in my beer fridge, this can foamed up immediately upon opening. After pouring into the glass and waiting a minute, there are still 3+ fingers of frothy white foam in the glass. Color is medium yellow with a bit of haze and a moderate effervescence. Looks decent for a blonde ale.

Smell: sweet aroma which is very cidery in character. There's a little malt underneath, but this beer has a very oxidized quality to it. This seems odd, it being packaged in a can and all, but there you have it. It's not terrible, but I admit I'm not a big fan.

Taste: much less cidery than the aroma, thankfully, although some of that quality is still there, especially toward the end of the palate. Plain malt with a little twang up front; there is a bit of bitterness here, stronger than I normally expect for the style. Still, it's not my favorite blonde.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a surprisingly soft level of carbonation, considering it's bubble-up. A light creaminess is present.

Overall: I don't know if something went wrong with this brew or if this is Natian's intention. I won't be going after it again, though.

Pale greyish amber color, clear in the flared nonic, with a big foam up at first pour. The suds settles down to leave a brew with less than average carbonation in the mouth. Not a bubble to be seen in the glass. A faint lemony nose but not much actual smell.

Flavor starts with a resiny note with the browned biscuit taste of a Pale Ale. This is a light beer overall but it seems to be on the dank and sunless side of the spectrum. There is a woodsy, chewy hop flavor, rather subdued, but it leaves a distinct bitterness. The stuff is quite drinkable but do it quick before it flattens out. From the 16 oz can purchased at Market of Choice on 29th in Eugene.

Thanks to the creator of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 16 oz. can. This beer comes gushing out of it's can despite no aggitation and finally settles down with a cloudy golden color and a couple of inches of thick head. Smell has some citrus, and a bit of hops. Taste is surprisingly lemony, some biscuits,a bit of hops, finishes a bit tart. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer.
