Had on tap at Frisco taphouse Columbia on 5/28/14

A-This beer poured a dark plum-red-brown with a small foamy off white head that left good lacing.

S-The aroma was sour, malt vinegar and tart berries.

T-The flavor was red wine vinegar, very sour, and berries. Long tart berry and vinegar finish.

M-Medium body with light fizz and carbonation.

O-Overall a great sour.

A: ruby brown ale, red-orange amber in the light; nice clarity with a faint haze, minute bubbles effervesce from the bottom; tan foam two fingers high slimmed to a fuzzy collar that lasted all the way down

S: aromas of tart dark berries, red wine vinegar, and wood

T: cranberries and dark sour cherries, with the cranberry most dominant; sweet vinegar-like flavors; oak barrels soaked in tart red wine; light herbal and floral accents

M: smooth and easy, with a tingle and tartness to pucker the palate; light-bodied, brisk, and refreshing

O: no expert with the Flanders red ale, I found this quite enjoyable and very repeatable - tart and fresh, bright and sweet - a great start-point for the introduction to sours, as it was tart but also warming and almost creamy in feel at times; fans of the cranberry will surely dig this ale.

Large, fizzy beige head that fairly quickly dies down; appropriate for the style. Brew is darkly transparent: dark red, almost nut brown.

Slightly sweet, but very tart, vinegary aroma. Dry pepper, yeast, hay, and wheat. Wildflowers.

Supremely sour, vinegary taste. Still some sweetness, and an almost chewy, powdery yeast presence. Sweet and chewy wood presence. Just a hint of musty, cheesy funk.

Face-puckeringly sour, but refreshing and not very dry overall. Somehow soft despite the sourness. Great feel for the style.

Excellent sour, and a good example of the style.
