Served into a snifter at Dohertys Ale House in Warwick RI. Allowed to warm as I sipped it.

Poured a hazy ruby body with a white head that reduces to a ring of foam and leave blotchy lacing.

Aromas are interesting, red wine, grapes, and cherries, some woodyness, mustiness.

On the tongue is a mildly tart fruityness, light Caramel, some cherries, wine, dark grapes, the finish is sweet brandy. Mouthfeel is medium-light with medium carbonation.

Was curious about this beer and I'd definitely order it again. Subtlety tart and fruity, it's a nice compliment to your meal.

For the style this beer really left me wanting more. Not nearly as tart and funky and many other Oud Bruins I've tried. I suppose it's a great starter for someone not as adventurous to try and get into this style.

Appearance: big head of about three fingers was produced on an aggressive pour. Thin layer sustained across the top while drinking. Low active carbonation and the color is brown with plenty of ruby red accents.

Smell: cherry syrup, leather, and tobacco greet the drinker. Some woodiness shows up on the body with lactose sweetness as well. Caramel maltiness continues a running theme of sweetness.

Taste: a very well rounded front of slightly tart cherries, oak, leather, and dark fruits. Those fruits continue to develop and wash over the palate in waves. Raisins and some toffee linger long after drinking.

Mouthfeel: rich Mouthfeel but plenty of the newaunces in this brew come through. Lower carbonation fits well.

Overall: very tasty Our Bruin. Some of the cherry syrup aromas had me worried this would come off overly sweet but this plays well. Surprisingly drinkable, a nice treat.

A different beer than the Bellegems, as far as I can tell, or perhaps this is an older vintage? Pours a medium amber color with a white head and really no sediment. Aroma is wine like, with sweet and sour characteristics. This brew is sweet, to sour, with toffee and tartness rounding out the flavor profile. There is a pleasant malt flavor throughout, and tartness follows. The beer finishes clean and mild, easily drank and quite enticing. Would certainly recommend this beer for personal use or to share with a special someone.
