On tap:
Pours a very dark ruby, only noticeable at the edges. Lovely foamy white head, with significant lacing. Nose is a tad sweeter tha expected, dark cherry, with a yogurt-like tartness. The nose is fairly muted, but does have some sour notes, with a hint of vinegar at colder temps.

Tastes are Silat to nose, but rely more on the tart notes than the fruit-based. The base is actually slightly bland, think unspectacular plum and cherry. The sour notes are sour-milk and even some vinegar notes. Maybe it speaks to balance that neither is overpowering, but both seem muted. Despite or in relation to this, the feel is awesomely smooth and silky. Carbonation is spot on, some play on the tongue, but not to interfere with the tastes.

I expected a more tart beer from what I read in these reviews. In that respect I was disappointed, but if I ignore this it was a solid beer. There are apple cider vinegar notes here and there, so beware of that. Otherwise, this is a beer if grab on occasion if the price or mood is right.

This one isn't for me. Had about a half glass and dumped the rest. Too sour, kinda nasty.

A - Pours a deep amber. Very clear 1 finger of a thick tan head dissipates fairly quickly so just a small head. No lacing.

S - Strong lacto up front. Almost a pear like scent from the lacto. Caramel malts, a little bit of chocolate, plums, cherries. Mostly just sour.

T - Very sour right off the bat and all of the way through. Not overly sour - just right. More pear flavor that was present in the nose. Tastes much lighter than this thing looks. Caramel malts also present - no hops at all. Really, this reminds me of a pear cider that I had awhile back. Very nice.

M - Medium-heavy carbonation. Medium bodied - everything in the mouth is coated very well. Surprising for such an acidic beer.

O - I really like this one. Very well done sour beer.

Served into a snifter at Dohertys Ale House in Warwick RI. Allowed to warm as I sipped it.

Poured a hazy ruby body with a white head that reduces to a ring of foam and leave blotchy lacing.

Aromas are interesting, red wine, grapes, and cherries, some woodyness, mustiness.

On the tongue is a mildly tart fruityness, light Caramel, some cherries, wine, dark grapes, the finish is sweet brandy. Mouthfeel is medium-light with medium carbonation.

Was curious about this beer and I'd definitely order it again. Subtlety tart and fruity, it's a nice compliment to your meal.

For the style this beer really left me wanting more. Not nearly as tart and funky and many other Oud Bruins I've tried. I suppose it's a great starter for someone not as adventurous to try and get into this style.
