Poured from the bottle into a tulip glass.

A clear chestnut golden brown out of the bottle, filling the glass with a great woody dark mahogany, and almost cocoa dark brown opaque quality. Head barely reaches two fingers, but has a great creamy espresso and milky like texture. Settle to a fairly good size collar and thin puck. Nice looking oud bruin.

Real unique nose. Milk chocolate, with a bit of orange bitterness and lemon tang sour quality. Really getting a malted chocolate sweetness on this which is real fascinating. Dry a bit, with some acidic mild heat coming off it as well. This is really impressive.

Palate comes controlled, creamy, and full of flavor. Great rich malt and mild tartness. Low acid with a nice mix of sweet caramel and milk chocoalte in the mid palate. Big coating almost imperial rich feeling. Super quick easy drinkability, with huge coating on the palate. Mild fruits of lemon and small cherry, a bit of fig soft sweetness as well. Wondefully balanced between tart and sweet.

It's great to be finding another great oud bruin for a change, I'll be remembering this one for sure.

A: 4.5 Pours brown with a nice red undertone and a large light tan head.

S: 4.25 Lots of funk on the nose. There’s also vinegar, vanilla, oak, green apples and cherries. The oak and vanilla add a sweet aroma that balances out the more acidic elements.

T: 3.75 Not too sour and actually rather sweet. The green apple and cherry are stronger than the nose would suggest, while the funk is mellower. Other than that, there’s not a lot of interesting flavors going on. There’s a slightly metallic taste that’s less present, but it is less noticeable after the first couple of sips.

M: 3.75 The body is pretty nice, not quite substantial enough for my tastes. Also a bit under carbonated making the beer feel a bit lifeless.

O: 3.75 This is a fine beer and a decent example of an oud bruin. It’s not quite sour enough and there’s not a lot of complexity, however this is an easy drinking beer and maybe a good intro to sours (if you don’t want to try Rodenbach for some reason).

25 cl bottle (10 12 14) into a tulip. Clear amber brown body, small light tan head, little lacing. Sweet and sour smell of brown sugar, dark fruits, sour cherry and oak. The taste starts with tart vinegar, sweet and sour cherry and raspberry in the middle and dry sour vinegar in the end. Light body, medium carbonation, smooth mouthfeel. An interesting sour beer with flavor. Sour but not overwhelming. The first oud bruin I've had and I liked it.

A: Dark brown with a slight ruby tinge, little carbonation, semi-transparent. Sports 3 fingers of beige head.

S: Sour, balsamic vinegar, black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, steak sauce, floral, raspberries.

T: Worcestershire sauce, steak sauce, black pepper, light sour balsamic vinegar, light unsweetened raspberry juice, some lemon juice as well.

M: Light to medium acidic body, lots of fine foamy carbonation.

O: I tend to love any beer in this style, and this one leans towards how I love it. Unsweetened, apparently not fruited, traditional.
