Great bar for some hard to find beers on tap. The great thing about the Gaff is the variety of imported beer and the occasional cask. Great place to hang out for a few hours, appreciate the service and vibe.

Super small place. we went for lunch when it wasn't too crowded but i imagine it can get pretty claustrophobic. food was alright but they had a great beer list.

Oh my god, The Gaff. This is my favorite craft beer bar in eastern MA. I miss when I lived in Waltham and could walk down to the gaff, have some popcorn and shoot the shit with some great folk and some great beers. Everyone who works in this place (even with Mitch gone!) is awesome with their customer service and there is always rotating awesome taps on. It's small and Fri/Sat nights it's usually too packed for me but it's great nonetheless.

By far my favorite bar in the area. Great people, great atmosphere, great beer list, and great popcorn. Definitely stop by if you're looking for a good beer bar around Waltham!

Small pub-style atmosphere. Long and narrow layout with minimal light coming inside, making it kind of dark inside. Since it is a relatively small place, there is not a large amount of seating. We had to wait several minutes for seats, though the bartender was very attentive getting us a drink right away while we stood and pointed out seats that were about to become free. For the size of the place, several taps plus some bottled beer. Also has a full bar. The beer selection was well thought out with a nice variety of good choices. You can purchase small pours of 4 different beers for $10; that option was greatly appreciated allowing my buddy and I to sample several beers over the course of the evening. The service was very, very good. The food selection is limited to a small pub menu, but what we had to eat was very good. Try the Rueben fritters - they were delicious. We were there was 3+ hours drinking quality beer and eating and the bill was $92 excluding tip (2 people). Very nice option for decent beer in that immediate area. I would definitely good back again.

This has to be my favorite neighborhood bar, there literally is something for everyone and they keep it new and exciting with an awesome rotating draft selection. A few favorites I tried at my last visit were the Troegs Perpetual IPA and the Down East Cider on draft which I've noticed is hard to come by on draft elsewhere...and also soooo tasty! On top of an awesome beer selection the staff are not only attentive but also super friendly and inviting. The food is fantastic as well even offering some gluten free/vegetarian options. All in all I gotta say The Gaff is a total gem worth checking out and a place worth going back to over and over again!

I stopped into this place after looking around on the interwebs for a place to drink in my new hood. Loads of great reviews for this place on all user generated websites. I would't consider this place to be super beer geeky however the beer program is clearly well thought out. Service is outstanding and for pub grub (considering how small the kitchen is), I was impressed. Seems like they rotate and go through a good bit of beer so it's definitely worth checking out.

Came here for dinner on a Saturday night (@ around 6:30pm). The place was pretty empty - the bar was about half full but only 1 table had people at them, so we grabbed a table.

To drink I had Dogfish Head 120 Min IPA, which surprisingly came in a big glass (like 16 ounces). That one lasted me a little while. I finished with a bottle of Maine Beer Co Peeper Ale. They had like 20 taps plus a whole bunch of bottles - everything from very local to Belgian and Germany.

For food, we started with some the "Reuben fritters" which were very interesting battered, fried slightly-larger-than-bite-size, pieces with a corned beef/cheese combo inside, served with a tasty 1000 island sauce. We also had the frickles which were fried pickles (one of my favorites!) they were good.

I had the burger with fries as a main course - it was pretty good. I would order it again.

Overall, an enjoyable experience - I would go back.

Just gave this place a try last week, after driving by it for months. Kicking myself for not trying it earlier! They have a great craft beer selection, with a CASK tap as well! You can also get flights of all the draft beers (mix & match). Good beer slection and also good food. The menu isnt too extensive, and it's mostly pub far, fried pickles, sandwiches, and build your own burgers (which are awesome btw).

This is a smaller Waltham bar, so it's very long and narrow space. Only 1 row of small tables aside from bar seats. So you may feel abit crowded, but just get friendly with your neighbors.

I love The Gaff. Great bar. This is my becoming my regular watering hole.

Great atmosphere and trendy music. You can catch some cool djays and live bands too.

Cool owner that tends bar. Extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Great beer selection. A good number of taps that they stock with what ever they feel like. They keep thing rotating and have a great selection of bottles and draft. You can find a range from highbrow to lowbrow here.

Great food from the tiniest kitchen on earth. Super cheap and super good with good sized portions.

Excellent bar, not just for Waltham, but anywhere. Very respectable beer selection, good amount of taps as well as bottles. Something for everyone. Spoke to the bartender (I believe he was the owner), said they are trying on introducing atleast a new beer every week or two. (good, inventive mixed drink list as well for what its worth, if you go with someone who is looking for that.)

Food is great too. Definitly above standard pub fare, but not trying to be anything fancy. The free popcorn is a very nice touch, just enough salt to make you even more thirsty.
