Information from brewery:
Exciles is BayouTeche Brewing's artisanal version of the French style of beer known as Biere de miel (honey beer). This limited release beer (30 barrels) is liberally spiked with Bernard's Acadiana Honey and French Honey Malt.

Poured from firkin in pint glass. This firkin was aged with birch chips. There will be a version of this beer aged in whiskey barrels to be released in July. Nice dark amber-brown color with minimal head that dissipated quickly. Slight lacing.

Smell is toasted and sweet malts with honey and caramel notes.

Taste is sweet but balanced with lots of sweet malts, caramel and honey. I really tasted quite a bit of honey character. Slight bitterness in the finish.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and somewhat flat.

Overall this was really nice. Would like to see a bit more carbonated but I understand that is pretty characteristic of beer from a firkin. Will definitely buy the BA version when it becomes available in July.
