Notes: Golden Milk Stout infused with 3 pounds per barrel of Guatemalen coffee. Head Brewer Evan Price worked together with Roast Master Jeff Duggan from Portola Coffee Lab to create a truly unique drinking experience. Stout with oats and lactose (milk sugar), coffee instead of roasted grain.

This uses different coffee than Don's Naughty Sauce, which uses Portola Don Pachi Coffee and was a collaboration with Playground DTSA.

Wow such an interesting pour. First impression: Unbelievable flavor. The coffee aroma and flavor are warm and mellow. Little fragrance of vanilla, very nice. Light foam over a rich milky golden goodness. This has a cool smooth feel to it, very easy on the carbonation, which made it an interesting milk stout. Kind of pleasantly snuck up on me. I will definitely seek this out again. I was surprised to be impressed by this after drinking Calm Before the Storm by Ballast Point. This might be my 2 new seasonal favorites for the time being. This was a beautiful experience in a glass.

One of the most aromatic, tasty and by far, smoothest milk stouts ever brewed. The best way to describe the taste is it's kind of like the milk still left in the bowl after cinnamon toast crunch, but with coffee added. Even better on nitro.

Churchill's Pub & Grille
San Marcos, CA

Hazed and cloudy dark, burnt golden with a thick, incredibly persistent, creamy head. Leaves the glass messy with rings of stick. Very pretty, and I've never had a golden milk stout before--this is a first.

Lots of freshly ground coffee in the aroma, some nut elements, and a honey sweetness. Usually, I'm a big critic of mixing coffee and honey aromas/flavors/elements, but it works really nicely here.

The flavor follows the aroma, with lots of freshly-ground coffee flavors, honey sweetness, mild assorted roast, and a bit of citrus/honey hop character as well. Incredibly drinkable. Very impressive.

Medium bodied with creamy carbonation--no surprise given the serving style.

A fantastically surprising beer. Will drink again!

Reviewed from notes. On nitro @ the source.

A: Pours a clear golden with a half-inch thick finely carbonated white head which fades slowly and yields splotches and semi-rings.

N: Creamy earthy coffee with a mild sweetness, faint roasted malts.

T: Follows nose with a delicate and soft non-astringent coffee and lactose sweetness. Well balanced flavors.

M: Moderate body and medium carbonation. Creamy and soft finish.

O: Really wonderful for coffee and mik stout lovers.

A blonde stout with vanilla and coffee beans. Golden amber color with a nice creamy head. More amusing than most brewing jokes. It's actually quite tasty, and seems to please the ladies. It starts out with an aroma that is simply sticking your nose in the bag of freshly ground coffee. Astoundingly flavorful with a sweet and bitter profile.

This is quite sweet with that Milk Stout sensation, as long as you close your eyes. The coffee flavor is really strong, but quite mellow and rounded and goes nicely with the vanilla. This is one for a short after dinner glass. On tap at Local Habit in San Diego.

Had on tap. I'm usually not one for golden or white stouts, but this executed the style very well. Dark gold body with a cloud like white head. Smells like a stout latte: big coffee, vanilla, sweet malts, and slight toffee. Taste is very strong with coffee, eventually mixing in vanilla, graham cracker, toffee, malt, candied nuts, and blondie flavors. A little more balance with the coffee could go a long way, but then again if you are making a golden stout you probably don't really care about proper balance anyways. Feel is saturated by the coffee and sweetness, so much of it makes me think stout, but the feel still is thin for style. Probably best golden stout I have had though!

On tap at Verdugo Bar in Los Angeles, CA.

Pours a hazy orange-brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to a small cap on top of the beer. A foamy curtain of lace coats the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, coffee, and lactose aromas. Taste is much the same with vanilla and coffee flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roasty bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a low level of carbonation with an almost flat and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with a great smell and some tasty flavors.
