On tap at Rock And Brews in El Segundo, CA.

Pours a hazy orange with a foamy bone colored head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, cider, and Winter spices. Taste is much the same with various spice flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is an interesting concept with 20% of this beer being apple cider.

No idea what to expect. "A spiced winter warmer ale with 20% organic apple cider added during fermentation." Brewed with a proprietary blend of 6 different spices, caramel and chocolate malts and lots of Organic Apple Cider. 9.10% ABV confirmed. 11 IBUs. 1 pint 6 fl oz brown glass bottle with standard pressure cap served into a conical Samuel Smith's pint glass in me gaff in low altitude Los Feliz, Los Angeles, California. Reviewed live.

Served straight from the fridge. Side-poured with standard vigor as no carbonation issues are anticipated.

A: Pours a three finger beige-light khaki colour head of decent cream, pretty decent thickness, and good (~5 minute) retention. Body colour is a glowing dark amber. Semitranslucent. Nontransparent. No yeast particles are visible. No bubble show. Generally appealing for a winter warmer.

Sm: Heavy spice - nutmeg especially. Pie crust. Light toasted malt. Dried cherry. Amber malts. Cinnamon. A mild to average strength aroma. No yeast character or alcohol is detectable.

Oddly, I kept sneezing while smelling it. Not sure what the cause is.

T: Brown sugar is heavy here. Cinnamon and nutmeg too. Amber malts. Light fruit esters. Somewhat reminiscent of heavily mulled red wine. Graham cracker. Toasted malt. I guess there're some cidre notes, but they're more buried than you'd expect. Sugary and imbalanced, but still enjoyable for what it is.

Mf: Lightly coarse and nicely wet. Overcarbonated. Thick. Suits the flavour profile in a vague, general way. Okay presence on the palate.

Dr: A drinkable winter warmer with some interesting elements. Ultimately, its unrefined sugars bring it down. The lack of balance and complexity means I won't be getting it again, but it's not a bad beer per se. Needs work. An okay offering from Noble Ale Works. Lackluster as a winter warmer.
